Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is known for empowering his fellow students and players. He’s a big advocate of having a life more than just football and creating wealth in the process. If one were to guess if he would change were he to join a professional team? The answer from sports commentator Rich Eisen is no.
The Dallas Cowboys and Sanders’ potential reunion have sent everyone into a frenzy. During a conversation with NFL insider Adam Schefter earlier in the week, Coach Prime revealed that he has talked with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones concerning the head coach role. But while he respects Jones for reaching out, Sanders loves Colorado too much.
Nevertheless, several rumors and updates suggest that there is still a possibility of the reunion happening.
Rich Eisen Envisions Deion Sanders Thriving With Micah Parsons
Eisen recently shared his thoughts on the hypothetical union between Sanders and the Cowboys, particularly focusing on how he would interact with key players like Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs — the “Mount Rushmore of Defense,” as he put it.
Eisen believes that Sanders’ larger-than-life personality would resonate with Parsons, especially given the linebacker’s ventures outside football. He noted that Sanders wouldn’t just tolerate Parsons hosting a podcast — he’d likely encourage it.
“Deion might even say, ‘Hey, I’m forming my own podcast network. How’d you like to be on it?'” Eisen said.
“That’s the way Deion is, building a business of his own outside of the business of the Dallas Cowboys. If there’s anybody who should appreciate that, it is Jerry Jones, because that’s what you’d be bringing in. You’d be bringing in Deion Incorporated and marrying it to Jerry Jones Incorporated.”
Eisen then went on to envision how the Cowboys would look under Sanders. This includes the likes of Warren Sapp and Cowboys legend Michael Irvin getting more involved with the program.
“I’m sure that’s part of the reason why Jerry Jones is enamored by the idea of having Deion, bringing the X’s and O’s, and maybe even bringing in Warren Sapp to coach the defensive line,” Eisen added.
“Do you think Michael Irvin would be part of the program a little bit more? And so on and so on. I’m sure as Jerry’s sitting there thinking about it, it makes complete sense in that regard.”
Jerry Jones ‘Enamored’ by Idea of Sanders Taking Over as Head Coach
With Mike McCarthy’s contract now expired, the Cowboys are in search of a new head coach, and several analysts, including Eisen, believe no one is better suited than Sanders.
According to the latest report from NFL insider Ed Werder, the prospect of Coach Prime taking over the NFL team as head coach is making Jones “enamored.”
“Regarding Deion Sanders: I’m being told that he would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next #Cowboys head coach, that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea,” Werder wrote.
Whether or not the same would happen remains to be seen. But at the moment, there’s a good possibility that we see Sanders and the Cowboys reuniting.
