RGIII Rips Cowboys for Head-Scratching Offseason – ‘They’re Acting Like a Toxic Partner in a Relationship’

The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been a quiet one. That lack of activity led Robert Griffin III to voice his frustration with their approach.

The Dallas Cowboys have received much criticism for their extremely quiet free agency, as their only new addition has been LB Eric Kendricks despite losing a number of starters.

On Tuesday morning, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III became the latest analyst to rip the Cowboys for their unproductive offseason — and he didn’t hold anything back.

RGIII Rips Dallas Cowboys’ Offseason Inactivity

The Cowboys are no strangers to a reserved offseason approach. They prefer to bypass most of free agency in favor of building through the NFL Draft.

However, the Cowboys were even more quiet than usual in free agency, which has led to a ton of criticism from the NFL world, with RGIII being the latest to sound off on Dallas’ offseason approach in the latest episode of ESPN’s Get Up. You can watch the entire exchange in the video below.

“The Dallas Cowboys have had the worst offseason in the NFL,” RGIII started. “If the goal coming into the offseason for the Cowboys was to fix their culture and focus on winning and make it all about ball, then they’re failing absolutely miserably.

“I know Cowboys fans have to be tired of this circus and this continuous song and dance of getting attention and not winning when it matters.

“The Cowboys are acting like a toxic partner in a relationship…and it does feel like we’re just having another situation where the Cowboys are focusing on more things than just winning.”

Griffin puts into words what many around the team and the NFL have been feeling this entire offseason. Since the moment they got embarrassed in the Wild Card round by a young Green Bay Packers team, those around the franchise believed that it would be the final straw for Jerry Jones and Co. to go for it all in 2024.

However, despite Jones’ comments of being all-in, they’ve been anything but that. While other NFL teams can work around the cap, add talent, and still find ways to get creative to give themselves a fighting chance, Dallas seems content on telling fans and players that they are cap-strapped and unable to operate as many others do.

This is a franchise that prides itself on drafting well and then paying its players when they play accordingly. However, it seems at every turn when it gets close to contract negotiation time, tension is built, word gets spread, and things become increasingly more difficult than they should be.

In every sense, the Cowboys have had a failure of an offseason. Only time will tell if the front office is right and those who are frustrated are wrong. However, as it stands now, few can sit here and feel much different about their offseason than the way RGIII laid it all on the table Tuesday morning.
