A disappointing effort from the Baltimore Ravens spelled doom for their season. However, it wasn’t without one final gasp of hope. Running a perfect two-minute drill, the Ravens got within two points of the Bills and attempted a game-tying two-point conversion.
Dialing up a play for the longest-tenured pass catcher available, John Harbaugh had Lamar Jackson and TE Mark Andrews on the right sideline in mind. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as Andrews couldn’t hold on to the ball and their season came to an end. Immediately, reactions started pouring in with fans understandably upset.
Fans Grill Mark Andrews for Ending Ravens’ Season
A Baltimore Raven since he came into the league in 2018, Andrews has become a verifiable part of the identity of the Ravens. However, on a day when nothing seemed to go right for them, his steady hands missing a catch were the final nail in the coffin.
Three turnovers in the game should have effectively put Baltimore out of the match. But a big second half from Derrick Henry, who finished the game with 84 yards and a touchdown, put them back in the game.
Down eight with just under three and a half minutes left, they executed their best drive of the day, leading to a touchdown with 93 seconds left on the clock. That’s when disaster struck.
Some fans immediately called it “the biggest choke in NFL history” as Andrews somehow fumbled a relatively simple catch running backward.

The anger from Ravens fans was apparent, as they immediately took to memes and name-calling against their veteran tight end. Whether it was “Mark Andrews get ready to sell insurance.”

Or this gem, the fans were merciless in taking him apart.

On a night when Jackson had a lost fumble and an interception, Andrews became villain No. 1 in Baltimore. As costly as the dropped pass was, the situation could have been far more salvageable if he hadn’t turned the ball over earlier in the third quarter.
Catching a pass from Jackson, Andrews had the ball stripped clean, resulting in a fumble recovery for the Bills.

In back-to-back seasons, it was costly turnovers that ultimately ended the Ravens’ season. In the AFC Championship Game last year, Zay Flowers lost the ball racing into the end zone, swinging the entire game’s momentum.
Here, too, between the fumble and dropped catch, it was self-inflicted wounds that led to the Ravens’ downfall.

A team that was pegged as the favorite for the Super Bowl losing in such a heartbreaking fashion in the Divisional Round is going to open some hard conversations.
