Rashid Shaheed Injury Update: What We Know About the Saints WR

    Published on

Rashid Shaheed left the Saints' game against the Falcons with an apparent injury. What do we know about the New Orleans WR?

New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed has been one of the league’s surprise performers in 2023. Although he has always been a big-play threat, he’s found a significant role in the Saints’ passing attack alongside Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and Alvin Kamara.

However, he came off the field injured against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. What do we know about the injury, and how does it change the Saints’ offense?

    Rashid Shaheed Injury Update

Shaheed had already been to the tent earlier in the contest, and he was seen favoring his hamstring as he headed to the locker room for further evaluation. He was in obvious pain as he headed toward the locker room.

The Saints already lost Michael Thomas a week ago, placing the veteran pass catcher on injured reserve. That makes Shaheed’s potential loss all the more frustrating for an already frustrating New Orleans offense. They’re left with very little to work with on the outside.

Shaheed has shown marked improvement this season. He’s not been as efficient with Derek Carr, but he’s remained explosive when he gets the ball, averaging 16.9 yards per catch.

According to ESPN Saints reports Katherine Terrell, Shaheed is questionable to return with a thigh injury.

    Fantasy Impact Surrounding Shaheed’s Injury

While he is out of the lineup, look for Olave, Kamara, and rookie WR A.T. Perry to see more work in the passing game with a couple of key pieces banged up for New Orleans.
