Rashid Shaheed Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Saints’ WR this Week?

Rashid Shaheed blew up in Week 8 with 153 yards and a touchdown. Is that enough to grab him off the waiver wire this week?

We have passed the halfway point of the season, and now is the time to shore up weaknesses and look toward fantasy football playoff matchups. Does New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed fit the bill for your roster?

Should Rashid Shaheed Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 9?

I have been riding the Shaheed train all season and have been rewarded. Shaheed is an absolute burner and has learned how to get past both man and zone defenses. He’s coming off a career day with three catches, 153 yards, and a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts, so there will be competition to add him to your roster this week.

Shaheed has proven he doesn’t need a considerable target share to produce and has an insane weekly upside. Do not be alarmed by his 13% target share. Instead, dig into his 20.8 yards per catch and nine receptions of 20+ yards this season to know he can get it done.

Shaheed has guaranteed touches, getting multiple targets in every game and six or more in all but two games. He sprinkles in some rushes as well, and the Saints attempt to get the ball in their playmaker’s hands in unique ways (ask “TE” Taysom Hill).

Shaheed is currently a WR3 in our PFN Consensus Rankings. I agree, but I also believe he has tremendous upside, and I can see him improve to a WR2 as long as Derek Carr — or even Jameis Winston — is under center.

Those of us who have been following the undrafted Weber State standout are not surprised by the blowup in Week 8, but I would wager that many of your league-mates are. Take advantage and pick up Shaheed in all situations.

He can be a WR3/Flex now, but more importantly, if you get to your Week 17 championship game, Shaheed faces the 27th-ranked defense against fantasy wide receivers in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This could be a league-winning decision with little to no downside.

Pick up Shaheed now and make it a priority.
