Rashard Higgins Landing Spots: Potential suitors for free agent wide receiver

After a career year in the 2020 NFL season, where are Rashard Higgins potential landing spots in free agency? Where could we see Higgins playing in 2021 as he continues to try and make an impact in the league?

    Rashard Higgins Landing Spots

It has been a roller-coaster NFL career for Rashard Higgins. However, coming off his best year in the league, he could have a number of potential landing spots.

The Browns have reportedly put an offer out for Higgins to return

According to a report from Josina Anderson, the Cleveland Browns have extended an offer to Higgins. Higgins is currently assessing his options and allowing his market to unfold.

The Browns make sense as a potential landing spot for Rashard Higgins given the contract situation of Odell Beckham. While he cannot be released this year, Beckham could be traded this offseason. If not, he could be gone as early as next offseason, when there will be no dead money charge for releasing him. Therefore, Higgins could remain in Cleveland and be ready as the replacement for Beckham when he departs.

Could Higgins be an option as a top target for Tua Tagovailoa?

The Miami Dolphins need to find some receivers that can aid their young QB. Higgins ranked among the top options in the league when it came to yards after the catch over expected. While he is not a great WR when it comes to getting separation, Higgins does have the ability to make plays after the catch.

Would the Baltimore Ravens add Higgins to be their secondary weapon?

The Ravens really need to bring in a second receiver that can cause issues for opposing defenses. The issue for the Ravens is there is likely not the volume to attract a receiver like Higgins who is looking for a big payday in the future. Therefore, they will likely need to pay over the odds if they want to make Baltimore the landing spot for Rashard Higgins.

The Philadelphia Eagles need talented pass catchers

The Eagles are clearing out their pass catchers this offseason. DeSean Jackson is gone, Alshon Jeffery is going, and Zach Ertz could be leaving as well. Higgins would give the Eagles an intriguing option opposite Jalen Reagor. The only slight concern for Higgins right now is that we do not know how this offense will shape up with Jalen Hurts potentially under center in Philadelphia.

Houston could be in the market for a wide receiver this offseason?

The Texans have been very active in the free agent market. Additionally, they are a potential landing spot for Rashard Higgins as they still have a potential opening opposite Brandin Cooks.

Higgins could provide solid production opposite Cooks and allow Keke Coutee to operate in and around those two. With a catch rate over 70 percent in two of the last three seasons, Higgins could be an appealing secondary target in this offense.

Could Higgins be a potential weapon for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay?

The Green Bay Packers have had major question marks at wide receiver for the best part of the last five years. While Higgins is not exactly a star name, his 70 percent catch rate in the past two seasons could give him the reliability to earn the trust of Aaron Rodgers. The Packers could be a landing spot where Rashard Higgins could really boost his value for next offseason if he is willing to take the risk.

What is Rashard Higgins’ market value in free agency?

Right now it is hard to pin down an exact number for Rashard Higgins. If teams are willing to pay for potential, Higgins could get into the region of $10 million a year. However, Spotrac has a contract for Higgins valued at around $25 million across four seasons.

Offers of around $6 million per year could present an interesting conundrum for Higgins. After playing for minimal salary so far in his career, $6 million a year for four years would be a lot to turn down. However, if Higgins is willing to gamble on himself for one more year, he could significantly increase his value with a big 2022 season.
