MSN Slideshow Ranking the Top 10 NFL Rookie Disappointments From 2024 By Pro Football Network FacebookTwitterReddItFlipLinkedinEmail January 8, 2025 | 7:30 PM EST Share FacebookTwitterReddItFlipLinkedinEmail 1 of 10 The Chicago Bears had a tough season and so did their rookie QB, Caleb Williams. He took 68 sacks, which is the worst mark on the season, and also he held onto the ball much longer than needed. The team's OL had a lot of issues, but Williams is also to blame. Ultimately, the QB's performance wasn't even close to the kind of hype he had before the season started. Xavier Legette failed to find his best form in Year 1. In total, he had eight drops, which is the most among rookies. He had only 1.19 yards per route run. Both of Legette's season highs for receptions (six) and yards (66) were set against the Bengals. He finished the season with a mere 497 receiving yards. For most parts, it surely was a frustrating and disappointing first season for Adonai Mitchell. He recorded 23 receptions on 55 targets for 312 yards while failing to find the end zone through 17 games. It was a tough year for the rookie running back, Blake Corum, who never really got a chance to shine this season. Corum played behind Kyren Williams all season and finished the year with just 265 total yards. Things worsened after the RB exited the final game of the season early with a forearm injury which later turned out to be a fracture. Another rookie RB and another underwhelming rookie season. Trey Benson touched the ball 69 times for just 350 yards. He scored 1 TD. Luke McCaffrey is the younger brother of Christian McCaffrey. This is one of the main reasons why many had high hopes for a standout performance from the young star in his rookie year. However, it didn't pan out as it was anticipated. In his first season, he just amassed just 18 catches for 168 yards and zero touchdowns. Ja'Lynn Polk also had a poor rookie season. He just posted 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns on 33 targets. It’s been a lost rookie season for Roman Wilson, as he’s dealt with a pair of injuries. The only game that he appeared in was the Week 6 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders. He played just five snaps and recorded no stats. Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain on the third day of training camp, with that injury costing him the entire rest of camp, all of the preseason, and the first five weeks of his rookie season. The week after he finally got into the game, Wilson suffered a minor hamstring injury in practice that caused him to miss the team’s Week 7 game against the New York Jets. The NY Jets surely had higher expectations for Malachi Corley when the team drafted him with the first pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, since making it to New York, Corley has struggled to even find his way onto the field and has been a regular healthy scratch, appearing in only nine games. It has been a tumultuous regular season for Bengals rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton. He had a difficult time getting on the field for offensive snaps this season due to tardiness to meetings and not fully grasping the playbook. He played only 141 offensive snaps (14% of the total offensive snaps) and just 25 over the last five games. He had only four receptions for 107 yards. Off-the field it wasn't a great year for the Bengals Rookie star as well, as he was reprimanded by the Bengals multiple times for non-football related incidents.
