The Philadelphia Eagles were eager to improve this offseason following last season’s disastrous end. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made a ton of notable additions to Philadelphia’s roster, both in free agency and the NFL Draft.
While the NFL world eagerly awaits the official release of the regular-season schedule, we already know which teams each franchise will play in 2024. According to Pro Football Network’s strength of schedule formula, Philadelphia will have the NFL’s ninth-easiest schedule.
Will the Eagles be able to capitalize on the team’s weak schedule or crumble under pressure once again? Here are seven must-see games on Philadelphia’s 2024 schedule!
Previewing the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 Schedule
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers
The Eagles will open up the regular season with a “home game” against the Green Bay Packers in foreign territory, literally. It will be a monumental moment as the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Brazil.
It will also represent a significant test for the Eagles, as the Packers exceeded expectations last season. Green Bay’s Jordan Love emerged as one of the most impressive young quarterbacks in the NFL, surrounded by an intriguing mix of talent.
After making changes at both coordinator spots, Philadelphia will have a new-look staff for what will surely present a tough matchup in Week 1. It will be interesting to see how the revamped units led by Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio will perform in their Eagles debut.
Eagles at New York Giants
While divisional matchups are always important, Philadelphia’s road trip against the New York Giants will have some extra meaning in 2024. Former Giants star running back Saquon Barkley signed a lucrative contract with the Eagles in free agency.
After the Giants didn’t even make an offer to Barkley this offseason (according to him), he’ll surely be looking for revenge against his former team.
Philadelphia has dominated New York in recent years and will be hoping for a big game from Barkley in his return to MetLife Stadium.
Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Eagles have been knocked out of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in two of the last three seasons. Although Philadelphia won the team’s regular-season rematch in 2023, the sting of their playoff loss likely still hurts.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has struggled against the Buccaneers and will seek redemption in Tampa Bay. Considering that the Buccaneers could win the NFC South once again, this matchup could be incredibly important for playoff seeding as well.
Eagles at Baltimore Ravens
The NFC East drew a tough matchup in 2024, as they’ll be forced to play each team in the AFC North this regular season.
After losing in the AFC Championship Game last season, the Baltimore Ravens may present the toughest matchup for the Eagles. It will mark the first time that Nick Sirianni and Hurts will play against the Ravens as head coach and starting quarterback, respectively, in Philadelphia.
The Ravens are viewed as one of the best teams in the AFC and a legitimate threat to win it all in 2024. Hurts going toe-to-toe with Lamar Jackson is going to be must-see television.
Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns
Philadelphia is scheduled to have a relatively easy slate of home games, but the Cleveland Browns will present a tough challenge. The Browns were reportedly the other team being considered for Philadelphia’s Week 1 matchup in Brazil.
Although Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson looked like a shell of himself last season, Cleveland’s defense is one of the best units in the NFL. Although the Browns may not be the best team in the AFC North, the Eagles can’t afford to take them lightly.
Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Philadelphia last won on the road against the Dallas Cowboys in 2017. If the Eagles want to make significant strides next season, they need to prove that they can get the job done against the team’s toughest competition in the NFC East.
Although the Cowboys haven’t made many additions this offseason, they will likely still be a top team in the NFC. Dallas presents another opponent that Hurts has struggled against throughout his career.
Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals
Following the team’s injury-riddled season in 2023, many have forgotten about the Cincinnati Bengals — but they’re officially back.
Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow is ready to return to the field, and Cincinnati added plenty of pieces around him this offseason. Although the Ravens are likely the AFC North favorites, the Bengals are right there at the top as well.
Cincinnati’s revamped roster will present plenty of challenges for Philadelphia. This will be a must-see matchup and a potential preview of Super Bowl 59.
