Rams LB Byron Young Trolls NFL Fans After Referees Miss Blatant Face Mask Call in TNF Showdown

LB Byron Young takes to trolling NFL fans for calling him out after pulling the face mask of Vikings QB Sam Darnold, which led to the Rams' victory.

Byron Young became an overnight hero for the Los Angeles Rams after their win against the Minnesota Vikings. The outside linebacker’s sack on the Vikings QB turned out to be a game-winner.

NFL fans have shown their disapproval at Young’s method of bringing Sam Darnold down. However, that didn’t stop Young from trolling them.

Byron Young Trolls the NFL Fans Following the Outrage Over the Missed Call on Face Mask Pull

The replays after the sack showed that Young had his fingers inside Darnold’s helmet and used the face mask to pull the QB down to the ground. After the game, Young addressed the media inside the locker room and agreed to the foul.

“It happened so fast, it was hard to tell,” said Young. “When you slow it down, of course, I grabbed his face mask. In the moment, it happened so fast.” However, as the fans showed their disgrace at the refs for not calling it a foul, they lobbed several different pieces of evidence.

One was that Young immediately put his hands on his helmet after the sack. One fan on X (previously Twitter) uploaded a still image of that frame, with the caption, “Byron Young looks like he thought he’d get the penalty.”

However, the 26-year-old LB decided to troll the fan instead of admitting any guilt and replied, “It was just so loud in there had to cover up my ears ya know.”

Several NFL analysts agree that Young will be fined for this play despite it not being called a foul.

The LB is not afraid to have some fun at the expense of fans before that happens.

The Referees Did Not See Byron Young Pulling Sam Darnold’s Face Mask

Young and the Rams must consider themselves lucky for not being penalized after the play. With two minutes left, the Vikings could have turned the game around and tied it up. However, Young’s safety is where the game finished, thanks to the refs not penalizing him.

After the game, referee Tra Blake spoke on the matter to a PFWA reporter. “Well, on that play, the quarterback was facing the opposite direction from me, so I did not have a good look at it,” Blake said.

Blake stated that none of the umpires present on the field had a view of the egregious foul.
