Raiders vs. Browns Prediction, Pick: Will Derek Carr be able to rebound against Baker Mayfield ?

With the playoff picture emerging, we break down the Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns Week 15 matchup and make a pick and prediction.

The Las Vegas Raiders make their way back to Cleveland to take on the Browns on the back of a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Browns are now only one game away from the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North, so they will be keen to string together a couple of wins and challenge for the top spot. Let’s take a look at the Raiders vs. Browns Week 15 matchup, the NFL odds, and make a pick and prediction.

Update 12/17/21: The Raiders vs. Browns game has been postponed to Monday night due to the current COVID outbreak.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns pick, prediction | Week 15

    • Spread: Browns -6 (Odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook)
    • Moneyline: Browns -255, Raiders +205
    • Over/Under: 42

The Raiders came out of Week 14 humiliated by the Chiefs. It was a game that was never really a contest. The Chiefs shot out in front early — a fumble by Josh Jacobs led to 6 points on the first snap of the game, and that set the tone for the whole day. The Raiders gave up 48 points (and only managed 9 of their own) in their worst loss of the season yet.

You can’t help but feel that Las Vegas is exhausted. They’re possibly struggling to manage the adversity of everything they’ve been through this season, just trying to survive the remaining weeks without taking any more serious damage (or suffering any more personnel losses). They were no match for the Chiefs on Sunday, and I can’t see that being much different against the Browns this Saturday night.

Cleveland is clinging on to playoff contention

The Browns, on the other hand, edged out a narrow win over a late surging Ravens team last week. Lamar Jackson exited the game with an apparent injury, and yet, the Browns still allowed Baltimore back into the game, nearly handing it to them.

I feel for Baker Mayfield, who is obviously managing a lot of discomfort. As a result, he’s not able to play quite up to the standards he wants for himself.

    Raiders vs. Browns betting trends

The Raiders have only won one game in their last six, both outright and against the spread (ATS) — that game being the overtime win against Dallas in Week 12. That’s also the only game the Raiders have scored more than 16 points in the same six-game stretch.

The Browns may have beaten the Ravens on Sunday, but they lost ATS (-3), winning 24-22, breaking the hearts of spread bettors everywhere by allowing Baltimore back into the game late.

The ATS loss is their fourth in a row. As for the over/unders, the Browns are on a peculiar pattern this season. They’ve gone over, over, under, under, over, over, under, under, over, over, under, under, over…

So, if you’re into that kind of thing, you might fancy the over in this one.

    Raiders vs. Browns prediction

The score here will depend on how the Browns’ offense performs on the day. But this is too big of a game for a wilting Raiders team just trying to crawl to the end of the season on damage control. Myles Garrett and Co. will be a nightmare for Derek Carr and his lacking group of talent offensively, resulting in another slow day for the Raiders on the scoreboard.

With this in mind, I like the Browns to cover. Winning by a touchdown should be comfortable here. I’m going to go with the over too, expecting that the Browns get rolling and Nick Chubb has a big day.

Raiders vs. Browns Prediction: Browns 31, Raiders 14
