Maxx Crosby Praises Bo Nix on Podcast Wednesday

Rumors are swirling around Las Vegas and Denver about a potential Crosby trade to the Broncos. It might have something to do with the praise coming from Crosby toward Nix, who led his team to a Wild Card berth in his rookie season.

“I think he’s done a hell of a job,” Crosby said in a clip from the “Let’s Go!” podcast shared on Jan. 8. “From the mental side — like I don’t know him personally. I’ve met him a couple of times. And, obviously, on the field, I’m berating him with not only my words but also me throwing him around every time I see him. But he’s tough, you know what I mean? He doesn’t react.

“I was mic’d up, and they cut that whole clip of me discussing certain things with him, going after him. And he just kind of was looking at me. And I was like, ‘Okay, he’s actually — he’s got some b**** to him.”

Crosby has been the subject of trade rumors, but one NFL insider does not think he will be traded. He believes Crosby will get a new contract and be rewarded handsomely.

Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac is predicting that the Raiders will sign Crosby to a three-year, $100 million extension.

“Crosby should be seeking a new deal this spring, but does it make sense for he and the Raiders to lock in to something significant right now?” Ginnitti wrote. “It’ll take an aggressive offseason to begin to truly right this ship — but that’s exactly what we’re anticipating here.”

Las Vegas is scheduled to have a wealth of cap room heading into the offseason. The Raiders can afford to extend Crosby when the time is right.

Crosby led a Raiders defense that ranked 21st per PFN’s Defense+ metric.
