Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers suffered an injury in Texas' Week 8 clash with the Houston Cougars. What is his status, and how long will this injury affect him?

Texas Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers suffered an apparent injury in the second half of his team’s Week 8 contest against the Houston Cougars. What’s the latest on the 2024 NFL Draft prospect’s status? Here’s what we know.

    Latest Update on Quinn Ewers

After a few rough games, Ewers appeared to be getting back to himself in the Longhorns’ Week 8 outing. He’d completed 23 of 29 attempts for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions before an injury took him out of the game.

On a third-down play, Ewers scrambled in an attempt to pick up the first down. However, he was hit hard and came up holding his arm.

Ewers played for a bit afterward but was eventually replaced by backup Maalik Murphy. He was then evaluated in the medical tent and headed to the locker room for further evaluation.

At this moment, it’s unclear if Ewers will return, but there has been speculation that he suffered a collarbone injury. Were that to be the case, Ewers would be out for an extended period of time — most of the remainder of the regular season.

Ewers’ 2024 NFL Draft Stock Still Unclear

Ewers entered the 2023 season as a first-round hopeful in the 2024 NFL Draft class. While he’s visibly improved from his up-and-down 2022 campaign, there’s still uncertainty about where Ewers’ profile will land him.

Heading into the Houston game, Ewers had completed almost 70% of his passes for 1,704 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. But at times, a lack of discipline and lapses in accuracy still dotted his tape.

The hope is that Ewers’ injury is minor, so he can return to the field and finish the 2023 season on a strong note. But as of now, his status is inconclusive. Stay with us as we’ll add relevant updates to this article.
