Quarterback Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns were eliminated from the College Football Playoff when they lost 28-14 to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl. After the loss, all eyes were on Ewers and whether he’d declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. On Wednesday, he made the announcement, declaring for the draft.
Quinn Ewers’ Girlfriend Madelyn Barnes Cheers His Decision To Declare for the 2025 NFL Draft
When Ewers declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Wednesday, it did not come as a big surprise. Most analysts expected Ewers to declare rather than return for his final season of NCAA eligibility.
One of the biggest reasons Ewers was expected to declare was the quarterback situation at Texas. While Ewers is viewed as one of the best college football quarterbacks, the Longhorns were not expected to start him next season. Instead, they had alluded that Arch Manning would be the starter.
As a result, if Ewers wanted to return to college football, he likely would have needed to transfer. Rather than do that, he opted to start his NFL career.
Ewers’ girlfriend, Madelyn Barnes, did not waste any time congratulating him on his decision. She posted on her Instagram story, commenting on a reel Ewers posted, that she would always be his biggest supporter.
“So proud. Can’t wait to see what the future holds, I’ll always be your biggest supporter! No matter what team.”

When Will Quinn Ewers Be Drafted?
At the beginning of the 2024 regular season, Ewers was viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in his class. However, he had worse production this season than in 2023. While some of that can be attributed to a series of injuries, it has still hurt his draft stock.
As a result, Ewers is no longer viewed by most scouts as a Day 1 selection. Instead, scouts are divided on where he will be drafted. A minority of scouts still view him as a first-round pick. However, most others have him as a second-round pick or later. There are even some who think he’s more of a Day 3 guy.
