Quarterbacks With the Most Super Bowl Wins and Appearances

Which quarterback has won the most Super Bowls throughout the NFL's history? Who holds the record for the most appearances?

Quarterback is arguably the most important position in the NFL. And, when it comes to the biggest game of all, the Super Bowl, the position gains even more importance. It’s not a coincidence that no rookie QB has ever made it to the big game. Looking back throughout the illustrious lifetime of the NFL, which quarterback has the most Super Bowl wins and appearances? The answer is unlikely to surprise you.

Quarterbacks With the Most Super Bowl Wins

    • Tom Brady – 7 Wins

Yes, the greatest QB of all time obviously holds the record for the most Super Bowl wins by a quarterback. Tom Brady, who won a majority of his Lombardi Trophies with the New England Patriots, holds a substantial lead over all others at his position. Behind him are Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw, who both have four total Super Bowls. Brady has nearly doubled them.

When we look at active quarterbacks, there is no one else with more than one Super Bowl win. Guys like Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, and Matthew Stafford have all won the prestigious award once in their careers. Obviously, some of those guys still have quite a bit of time left in their careers to put a chunk in Brady’s record, but it will be tough.

Brady won Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, and LIII when he was with New England. He infamously left the team to test out free agency for the first time in his career, where he landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his first season with the team, Brady did what he does best and led the team to their first Super Bowl win since 2003.

Although Brady’s impressive numbers have only continued to grow the longer he’s been in the league, the end does seem like it’s nearly in sight. At 45 years old, Brady is once again looking at the possibility of free agency or retirement.

Quarterbacks With the Most Super Bowl Appearances

    • Tom Brady – 10 Appearances

Well, you probably guessed it. The QB with the most Super Bowl appearances in NFL history is also Brady. The future Hall of Famer won seven of his 10 appearances, for an impressive 70% win record.

Behind Brady are some of the typical names that you see in the record books. John Elway has five Super Bowl appearances, with a bundle of other guys at four, including Bradshaw, Jim Kelly, Peyton Manning, and Montana.

One name that has already shot up the record books in terms of Super Bowl appearances is Patrick Mahomes. At the young age of 27, Mahomes has been to the Super Bowl in three of his first five seasons. Considering how many years he has ahead of him, Mahomes could have a legitimate shot of actually breaking this Brady record.
