In our Week 8 QB and TE injury report, we assess the fantasy football impact of the injuries from around the NFL on Sunday. Let’s examine what the injuries of Ryan Tannehill, Dalton Schultz, David Njoku, and Daniel Bellinger mean for fantasy managers going forward.
QB/TE Injury Report Heading Into Week 8
If you are looking to escape the impact of injuries from your fantasy football team, why not look to play on Underdog Fantasy in Week 8? Their intriguing options of games give fantasy managers a chance to draft a new team every week or join the action through the excellent Pick’em game.
Ryan Tannehill, QB | TEN (Ankle)
The injury to Ryan Tannehill is certainly one to watch. He left the game with an ankle injury but missed just one snap. However, after the game, Tannehill was seen in a walking boot. With any of these injuries, an ankle sprain is a real possibility. That could spell an absence of anywhere between one and four weeks for the veteran.
If he does miss time, Malik Willis would get the start. However, it’s tough to trust anyone in Tennessee, outside of Derrick Henry, to be a fantasy asset right now. Willis would be kind of intriguing in 14-team Superflex leagues just because of what he can bring to the table with his legs.
Dalton Schultz, TE | DAL (Knee)
Dalton Schultz continues to deal with his sprained PCL. He aggravated it again in Week 7, but according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, he is “fine.” Schultz returned to the game and should continue to play.

However, until he is 100%, Schultz will be close to impossible to trust for fantasy purposes. He finished Week 7 with five receptions for 49 yards, but relying on his production is tough. Peyton Hendershot got the touchdown, while Jake Ferguson also saw a target. It’s a messy situation at tight end for the Cowboys right now.
David Njoku, TE | CLE (Ankle)
After David Njoku left the game this week with an ankle injury, he was seen in a walking boot. The early speculation diagnosis of a high ankle sprain was confirmed on Monday, indicating the big tight end will be out for two to five weeks. The good news is that the Browns have a bye in Week 9, so fantasy managers could be without Njoku for just one to four games.
Harrison Bryant will be the starting tight end while Njoku misses time. However, Bryant is nothing more than a matchup-dependent TE option in 14-team leagues or deeper.
Daniel Bellinger, TE | NYG (Eye)
It appeared to be a nasty injury for Daniel Bellinger. After heading to the locker room on the cart, Bellinger was taken to the local hospital. Tom Rock of Newsday Sports in New York suggested that he may require surgery but also reported that his vision seemed fine.
Bellinger was a fringe fantasy option before the injury. Therefore, this doesn’t do a huge amount of damage. Still, he had been emerging as a player with the potential to help down the line. When Bellinger returns, he has a chance to be a matchup-dependent starting option in 14 to 16-team leagues.
