The waiver wire is rarely rich at the QB position. We are now in Week 11. At this point, the surprise QB1s have already been added. Unfortunately, all we really have are glorified streamers. There’s just not much out there for fantasy football managers.
Top QB Waiver Wire Targets in Week 11
More Waiver Wire Targets: WRs | RBs | TEs
Joshua Dobbs, Minnesota Vikings (52% Rostered)
Joshua Dobbs is slightly over the threshold, but he’s too good to ignore entirely. In his first start for the Vikings, Dobbs threw for 268 yards and one touchdown while adding 44 yards and another touchdown on the ground. He’s now scored at least 26 fantasy points in three straight games.
Dobbs is the real deal. He has plenty of weapons in Minnesota, and his best one is coming back in a week or two. He is an every-week QB1. If you need a QB, do what it takes to get Dobbs.
FAAB Recommendation: 15-20%
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (52% Rostered)
As you can see, I had to go slightly over the threshold for both QB waiver wire recommendations. It’s just really tough to find anyone because so many quarterbacks are rostered. The top 20 quarterbacks sorted by Yahoo’s early Week 11 projections are all rostered in more than 50% of leagues.
Given that Baker Mayfield is still out there in a bunch of leagues, though, he’s worth mentioning.
Mayfield is never going to live up to the expectations of being the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but he’s proven worthy of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Mayfield has stopped 17 fantasy points in four straight games. He’s now scored at least 16 fantasy points in all but two games this season. With the state of quarterback play as bad as ever in the NFL and this being a down year overall for offense in fantasy, Mayfield is quite serviceable.
The Bucs are past their bye and have a relatively favorable remaining schedule. If you need a quarterback, and he’s still out there, you can do far worse than Mayfield.
FAAB Recommendation: 0-5%
Which QBs Should You Roster in Fantasy Football?
Should You Roster Joshua Dobbs or Matthew Stafford?
Imagine asking this question before the season. Dobbs’ job was to be a placeholder for Kyler Murray. Then, something incredible happened. He looked like a capable starting quarterback. Dobbs has played his way into an NFL career. Of that, I am certain.
But it doesn’t stop there. Dobbs has actually been great in fantasy. He’s scored between 24.92 and 25.12 fantasy points in his last three games. That is remarkable consistency.

Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford is just not the prolific fantasy producer he once was. He’s consistent but not productive. Stafford has scored between 12.38 and 17.16 fantasy points in every game this season. He won’t completely face plant, but the ceiling we saw in 2021 no longer exists.
Stafford is surprisingly rostered in 41% of leagues. Dobbs is rightfully on more rosters, but both of those roster percentages should move in opposite directions. Give me Dobbs.
Should You Roster Baker Mayfield or Trevor Lawrence?
For a complete teardown of the mirage that is Trevor Lawrence, check out this week’s cut list when it drops. I guess that’s a spoiler for where this is headed.
These are two former No. 1 overall picks. One has been largely written off as a bust. The other is supposedly the chosen one. Is there any question as to who has been the better player this year, though? At least from a fantasy perspective, there most certainly is not.
Mayfield has scored more fantasy points in each of his last three games than Lawrence has in any game this season. Mayfield has a total of four games this season with more points than Lawrence’s best game.
Mayfield is averaging 2.8 PPG more than Lawrence this season. It’s simply not close. Lawrence is beyond droppable. If Mayfield is out there, make that swap right away.
