The Puppy Bowl is set to return in 2023 for a 19th edition ahead of Super Bowl 57. The purpose behind the Puppy Bowl is to raise awareness of adopting pets from shelters and rescuing abandoned animals. While many of the participants of the Puppy Bowl are often already adopted, with the event being filmed the previous October, the Puppy Bowl will also feature a number of puppies who are able to be adopted right now, even if they are not partaking in the game.
On the field, we see Team Ruff taking on Team Fluff, with the team names having been introduced at Super Bowl XI. There will be more than 120 puppies involved in the competition for the Lombarky Trophy, with the top performer being named the Most Valuable Puppy. In addition to the game, there is a Kitty Halftime Show, among several other fun features.
Let’s take a look at how to watch the Puppy Bowl, why the event takes place, and what to expect when you tune in to this light-hearted Super Bowl pre-game event.
