‘I’ll Be Talking So Much Smack’ — Projected No. 1 Pick Travis Hunter Shares Plans To Outdo Deion Sanders

Travis Hunter shared his main motivation: working toward a gold Hall of Fame jacket and at least one Super Bowl title.

Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter is one of the most hyped-up players in the 2025 NFL Draft, with many analysts projecting him as the No. 1 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans.

Hunter was also among the most popular names during the 2024 college football season, winning many major honors, including the Chuck Bednarik Award for best defensive player, the Biletnikoff Award for most outstanding receiver, and the Heisman Trophy.

However, Hunter’s achievements are not enough to outdo his coach, Deion Sanders, who he discussed during his latest episode of “The Travis Hunter Show.”

Travis Hunter Reveals Plans To Outdo Deion Sanders

Hunter and Sanders are a lot more than just a coach and player. They share a special bond, be it the Colorado star stealing Coach Prime’s exclusive sneakers from his collection or going fishing together.

The power duo, which successfully flipped the script at Colorado and made it a relevant program, share a father-son-like relationship. Sanders often mentions Hunter when he talks about his “sons” migrating to the NFL.

The special relationship they share also invites a lot of hilarious banter and back and forth between them. One recent example was when Hunter revealed his plan to outdo Coach Prime.

While the Colorado star did win a Heisman Trophy, unlike his coach, Hunter shared that he aims to outdo him by securing a gold jacket and a Super Bowl title.

“I need that gold jacket, whatever it is going to take,” Hunter said. “I got to outdo Coach Prime. I got a Heisman trophy, he don’t,” he said with a smile.

“That’s not how I do it because he got that gold jacket. I need to get that gold jacket and a Super Bowl, I get to outdo him.

“I can’t outdo him if I get none of that. So, I’m just one step closer. Keep going. And then if I go a pick ahead of him, when we on that league together, I’ll be talking so much smack.”

Hunter and Sanders’ relationship started at Jackson State and continued at Colorado upon their arrival in Boulder, Colo. During their first year with the Buffaloes, the team ended the season with a 4-8 record.

However, during the 2024 season, Hunter led the Buffaloes to a successful 9-4 season.
