The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching, and several teams have had enough action in the first six weeks of the regular season to identify the holes in their roster.
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter highlights some of the key players that fans should look forward to in terms of a trade. With the hype around in-season trades at an all-time high, several big names are expected to be moved around.
Adam Schefter Eyes the Wide Receiver Market for Incoming Trades
On Thursday, Oct. 17, Schefter appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” and started pointing out the reason for increased activity in the in-season trade window over the past few years. He suggested that a younger breed of coaches aren’t ashamed to alter their rosters midway through the season, to improve their chances or be better prepared for next season by gaining picks in the NFL Draft.
Schefter pointed out that the wideout market is the hottest, and most activity is to be expected in that area during his appearance. In fact, according to him, the Carolina Panthers are set to lose multiple receivers before the trade deadline on Nov. 5.
Diontae Johnson, Jonathan Mingo, and Adam Thielen could be out of Carolina, he says, and Treylon Burks and DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans could be expected to join other teams as well.
Other wide receivers that Schefter expects to leave their current teams before the deadline:
- Darius Slayton of the New York Giants
- Mike Williams of the New York Jets
- Zay Jones of the Arizona Cardinals
Apart from the wide receivers, Schefter also listed other prospective trades that the fans could see before Nov. 5, such as Bryce Young of the Panthers and Za’Darius Smith of the Cleveland Browns.
Biggest In-Season Trades of the 2024 Window Until Now
Before the Week 7 matchups begin, the NFL has seen jaw-dropping trades over the past few days that will have ripple effects for the remainder of the season and, potentially, beyond.
The first of these was undoubtedly star WR Davante Adams being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to link up with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
Another shocker came shortly after this news as the Cleveland Browns traded away their star wideout Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills.
Running back Cam Akers being traded to the Minnesota Vikings (again), this time from the Houston Texans, also came as a surprise for many.
Nevertheless, the in-season trades before the deadline could be even more shocking.
