The 2025 NFL Draft cycle has commenced, and the tight end class commands attention. Brock Bowers set the bar high in 2024, but the 2025 TE class still has a lot to offer, and there’s a near blue-chip player at the top.
PFN Scouting Podcast: TE Class Preview Covers Colston Loveland, Terrance Ferguson
In the modern NFL, the passing game and the running game jockey for value along ebbs and flows — but the best offenses marry the two phases perfectly.
An elite tight end has become a game-breaking type of force that can blend the lines and keep things moving. The 2024 class had a true blue-chip prospect at the top in Bowers, and a number of quality secondary options like Ben Sinnott, Theo Johnson, and Jared Wiley. But the 2025 class could have just as much — if not more — overall depth, and there’s talent at the top as well.
On the latest episode of The PFN Scouting Podcast, myself and fellow Scouting and Fantasy Football Analyst Derek Tate discussed the TE class as a whole. We gave our early top five rankings at the position and covered other potential challengers for early-round capital.
Michigan’s Colston Loveland is the headliner of the 2025 class, but our top five lists were entirely different past the first overall spot, with almost a dozen different names comprising the composite list as a whole.
Luke Lachey and Mitchell Evans stand out as more traditional TE prospects with three-down utility. Lighter playmakers like Oronde Gadsden II, Bryson Nesbit, and Benjamin Yurosek have added appeal as pass-down weapons. Yet, tight ends like Terrance Ferguson and Oscar Delp might be able to overlap both categories.
