While the full 2024 NFL schedule doesn’t get released until May, every team’s opponents have been known since the end of the regular season. Steelers To Face Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes
The Steelers’ 2023 season was up and down, but it ultimately ended with the team heading home after a loss in the first round of the playoffs. In 2024, things don’t get easier as they face another gauntlet of quarterbacks. Those quarterbacks include Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, and more.
Offensive struggles defined the Steelers in 2023, resulting in the firing of offensive coordinator Matt Canada. The franchise hired former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith as their new offensive coordinator in an attempt to revitalize that side of the ball.
Additionally, the Steelers could likely see a change at quarterback in 2023. On The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said, “Pittsburgh is gonna go out and get another quarterback. … Keep in mind that Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Justin Fields.”
Additionally, the team has already parted ways with quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Former first-round pick Kenny Pickett is the only quarterback already set for a return to the Steelers in 2024, as Mason Rudolph has an expiring contract.
Another Tough Schedule?
According to Yahoo Sports, the Steelers hold the third toughest schedule in the NFL by 2023 records. The only two teams they’re behind are their fellow AFC North rivals, the Browns and Ravens.
While just playing in the AFC North is tough enough, as it is one of the best divisions in football, they also face a gauntlet of teams that are getting healthy. The Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl win, the Chargers, Jets, and Colts return their starting quarterbacks, and there are still strong foundations to the Broncos and Eagles’ rosters.

If the Steelers are to have a good season in 2024, they’ll have to stay healthy, improve this offseason, and take care of business when it comes to the four teams they face with new head coaches in 2024 (Commanders, Chargers, Falcons, and Raiders). Additionally, they face the Giants, who have major questions at quarterback going forward.
