Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs Odds for the Super Bowl Rematch: Is Jalen Hurts or Patrick Mahomes Favored?

Betting odds are up for next week's highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.

The NFL Week 10 prime-time slate is as bad as it gets. We have to watch two of the worst teams in football, Zach Wilson, Aidan O’Connell, and Russell Wilson, play on national television this week. But if you’ve already looked ahead to the Week 11 schedule, you saw the light at the end of the tunnel, as we have the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football for a Super Bowl LVII rematch.

Just like this time last year, the Eagles and Chiefs have two of the top records in the NFL, and this could be a preview of an actual Super Bowl rematch, making it one of the most anticipated games of the season. Next week’s lookahead lines are already out, and that includes the Eagles vs. Chiefs, but who is favored?

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs Odds

The Chiefs opened as three-point home favorites against the Eagles on DraftKings Sportsbook next week, but the spread has since dropped to 2.5.

    • Spread
      Chiefs -2.5
    • Moneyline
      Eagles +110, Chiefs -130
    • Total
      47.5

This is not only the first time the Eagles have been getting points this season, but they haven’t been underdogs in a game with Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback since the 2021 Wild Card Round against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The last time Hurts was getting points in a regular-season game was Week 7 of 2021 at the Las Vegas Raiders. That was before they had A.J. Brown and weren’t sure if Hurts was their franchise QB. It’s been that long.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs Prediction

Both of these teams will be coming off their bye weeks and should be healthier and well-rested for this matchup. The Eagles needed the bye week more than the Chiefs, as Hurts has been playing through a knee injury, and they’re hoping to get both Cam Jurgens and Bradley Roby back.

Kansas City’s offense might be performing below expectations, but they’re still one of the elite units in the NFL — ranking seventh in yards per game, fifth in EPA/play, and sixth in success rate. The biggest issues for them offensively have been their wide receiver play and Travis Kelce when Taylor Swift isn’t in attendance (I’m only partially serious here).

But going against Philadelphia’s defense should be an advantageous matchup for KC. Over their last two games, the Eagles have allowed 771 passing yards and seven passing TDs to Sam Howell and Dak Prescott. If those two quarterbacks had that much success against this defense, imagine what Mahomes and Andy Reid are capable of with an extra week to prepare.

Although he’s been dealing with a knee injury, Hurts has arguably been playing the best football of his career over the past few weeks. But he’ll be facing a Chiefs defense that is the best they’ve had in the Mahomes era. Last week, they held a juggernaut Miami Dolphins offense to under 300 yards and just 14 points.

As I noted in my pick for the Chiefs in their matchup against the Dolphins last week, Mahomes is 20-6-1 ATS in games when the point spread is three points or less. This includes last year’s Super Bowl when they were short underdogs against Philadelphia. In these types of matchups at home, especially against weak pass defenses, it’s hard not to side with Mahomes.

    Pick: Chiefs -2.5
