Drake Maye has shown his grit and competitive nature throughout the season, despite the results not going his way.
However, in the last game of the season, the New England Patriots have a different objective. Patriots fans found hope in Jerod Mayo’s cryptic position on backup QB Joe Milton III.
Patriots Fans Want Joe Milton III Over Drake Maye in Week 18
The Patriots will be facing off against the Buffalo Bills and this could turn out to be the most important game of their season. Currently, the Patriots have the No. 1 pick for the 2025 NFL Draft with a 3-13 record. However, four other teams could mathematically get the position after the dust settles.
The surest way for the Patriots to hold on to their No. 1 pick is to lose against the Bills. Otherwise, they’ll have to rely on results elsewhere. The Bills have nothing to play for in the game and are likely to field their depth players.
In such a scenario, head coach Mayo has hinted that Milton could be put on the field. However, the HC has not confirmed his starting lineup nor the amount of snaps Milton will get, if any. Despite that, Patriots fans have held on that this is the best game for Milton to start.

“Joe Milton will get a new luxurious level to his house with every pass he completes to a Bills defender,” added another fan.
“If Milton starts to light it up…suit up the ball boy to play qb,” one more fan tweeted.

The last time the Patriots held the No. 1 draft pick was in 1993. They drafted QB Drew Bledsoe, which turned out to be revolutionary for the franchise.
New England is unlikely to use that pick on a QB, having drafted two rookie QBs this season (Maye and Milton). However, they could use that draft capital either for trades or pick a different position to round out their roster.
