Patrick Mahomes is on the cusp of history as the Kansas City Chiefs get ready to play in their seventh straight AFC Championship Game. They will face familiar foes in the Buffalo Bills.
However, Josh Allen and Co. are making some in the footballing world doubt the abilities of the defending champions. For those doubters, Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe has a single-word message.
Bobby Stroupe Is Excited As Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs Get Cast As the Underdogs
While the betting line is favoring the Chiefs, NFL media personality Colin Cowherd is singing a different tune. On the last episode of his FS1 show, “The Herd,” Stroupe’s attention was grabbed by one section from Cowherd.
“I think they’re (the Bills) going to win the Super Bowl. I think this is the best version. I think this is going to be the year. They are the Chiefs without the trophies,” Cowherd said on his show.
Stroupe, finding inspiration from this segment, posted a picture of Cowherd’s quotes and captioned it on his Instagram story, “Good.”
Notably, Stroupe has been working with Mahomes since he was in the fourth grade. Their relationship was explored during Netflix’s documentary show “Quarterbacks.”
Mahomes and Allen have faced off against each other thrice in the playoffs, and the Chiefs quarterback has won the battle each time. Unlike Cowherd, Stroupe believes Mahomes is going to extend that lead.
Mahomes Shares His Thoughts on the Possible Exit of Travis Kelce
Since the Chiefs tight end started dating pop icon Taylor Swift, his fame has shot through the roof. The 35-year-old hinted before the season that his time might be coming to an end; however, Mahomes doesn’t want to think about those things.
“I haven’t [thought about it],” said Mahomes regarding Kelce’s retirement. “That’s something you worry about in the offseason. But, regardless, I just appreciate the time I am on the football pitch with him.”
As the QB highlighted, the entire franchise is currently focused on becoming the first-ever NFL team to three-peat. They will advance one step closer to their objective if they overcome the Bills on Sunday, Jan. 26.
