Patrick Mahomes was the star of the show for the Kansas City Chiefs yet again on Sunday night as he led the team to their fifth Super Bowl game in six years. The Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship game and will lock horns with the Philadelphia Eagles for a chance at a historic three-peat in New Orleans on Feb. 9.
Mahomes put on a clinic to win his 17th postseason game, the second most by a quarterback in history behind Tom Brady’s 35. After getting one step closer to his fourth Super Bowl ring, Mahomes shared a message for his fans.

The Chiefs hadn’t scored more than 30 points in a game all season with their offense struggling to provide support to Mahomes. But they are a dynasty and a well-oiled machine that knows how to win. When it came to their biggest game of the season, the Chiefs scored 21 points before halftime and added another two scores in the second half.
Mahomes delivered his best score of the season across 18 games, his highest playoff score in PFN’s database, which dates back to 2019. He had 245 passing yards, one touchdown, 43 rushing yards, and two rushing scores in the win. His magical run comes off the back of a regular season where he finished 10th in PFN’s QB+ metric.
The 29-year-old registered his 17th playoff victory to lead the Chiefs into their fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years.

He was excited for his third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, and shortly after ending the Bills’ season, Mahomes took to social media.

Mahomes, who had his first career multi-rushing TD game, expressed gratitude when he spoke after the contest with CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson. The quarterback took pride in the team and shared his excitement for the Super Bowl game against the looming Philadelphia Eagles, who defeated the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC Championship game.
“I’m just so proud of my teammates and how they responded,” he said. “That was a great football team. I’m lost for words. I’m just excited for New Orleans.”
“It’s not about one guy, it’s not about a couple guys. It’s about the whole team. And when we needed the defense to get stops, they got stops. Offense we made plays. That’s why we’re so special because it’s a team effort and a team football game.”

Mahomes passed Joe Montana for the second-most playoff wins by a starting quarterback (17) and John Elway for the second-most playoff game-winning drives by a quarterback (seven).
Already regarded as one of the greatest in NFL history, the 29-year-old has the chance of doing what nobody, even Tom Brady, has done by defeating the Eagles in the Super Bowl to win a third consecutive Lombardi Trophy.
