Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes probably played one of the worst games in his NFL career in the Chiefs Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.
Mahomes threw for 257 and three touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions and had a fumble.

Patrick Mahomes’ Mother, Randi, Had a Message for Him
Mahomes’ mom, Randi Mahomes, penned a beautiful message to her son after the Super Bowl loss and posted it on Instagram.
“Not the ending we wanted, but so incredibly proud of Patrick and this team. No matter what, I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader son,” her post read. “Thank you, Chiefs Kingdom, for the love, support, and riding with us every step of the way.”

After the game, the Chiefs QB took responsibility for the Chiefs’ poor performance.
“Both [losses] sucked,” Mahomes said. “There’s no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it is the worst feeling in the world. They’ll stick with you the rest of your career. These will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better the rest of my career, because you only get so few of these and you have to capitalize on these and they hurt probably more than the wins feel good.”
Mahomes continued, “I threw a pick-six, and I threw a pick that they returned to the 5-yard line and they scored immediately after. When you give the team 14 points, especially a really good football team, a Super Bowl football team, then not a lot of good things happen.”
“I put us in a bad spot. Even though we put up some stats at the end of the game, those stats didn’t really matter because I’d already kind of lost the momentum for this entire team. I have to be better at not turning it over whenever it’s not going my way, trusting my defense, trusting the rest of my team to get those stops until I can figure out what we need to do as an offense.”
There was also talk after that performance about whether or not Mahomes deserves to be talked about in the GOAT conversation. Many had said that had Mahomes and the Chiefs pulled off a feat that no other NFL team had accomplished, winning three Super Bowls in a row, he may replace Tom Brady as the greatest of all time, but that talk has died down now after this loss.
But as competitive as Mahomes is, despite this latest setback, you have to believe we haven’t heard the last from the three-time Super Bowl champion.
