Patrick Mahomes Fantasy Outlook for the 2023 NFL Season

The problem with trying to construct an objective player outlook for the upcoming season, which normally focuses on both the pros and cons for a player, becomes very challenging when the player has given us nothing short of greatness for the majority of his NFL career.

It feels like Mahomes comes back better every season and continues to give us more reasons why he’s already an all-time NFL great with just five seasons as a starting QB.

His fantasy finishes speak for themself. Since 2018, Mahomes has finished as the QB1, QB7, QB4, QB4, and QB1.

The only thing that can slow him down is an injury, which hasn’t happened often during his career.

Last year, the question around Mahomes was whether or not he could still be an elite producer without Tyreek Hill. Well, his QB1 finish answered that question in a definitive manner.

Mahomes became just the third player with multiple 5,000+ passing seasons in NFL history. The other two were Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

What is the concern this year? Eric Bienemy is no longer his offensive coordinator? I’m not buying it. There is a real case to be made that Mahomes is the safest pick in all of fantasy football.

Is Mahomes a Good Fantasy Pick?

I’ll start by answering this question in the simplest way possible. Yes, Mahomes is a good fantasy pick. If someone drafts him in the first round of a 1QB league, you shouldn’t scoff at it. Should he probably be the QB1 off the board in Superflex leagues? Yes.

His average production over the last three seasons has been 4,943 passing yards and 38 passing TDs to go with 349 rushing yards and two rushing TDs.

The scary thing is — at just 27 years old — Mahomes could continue to get even better.

If you ever get stuck with who to select in the first two rounds of your fantasy draft, taking Patrick Mahomes is always a good backup plan.
