The Chicago Bears and Justin Fields find themselves in an interesting situation as the 2023 season is coming to a close. The Bears own the Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick in the upcoming draft — one that will be the No. 1 overall selection. Naturally, people have assumed that they will use that pick on a new quarterback of the future.
However, that situation leaves Fields and his future in Chicago in limbo. Despite all of that, Fields has raised his level of play and has not so quietly raised questions around the league about whether the Bears should select a new QB and move on from him after all.
His talent is intriguing, and he is just scratching the surface — for that reason, he seems to be gaining support nationally.
NFL Analyst Goes Viral After Speech for Justin Fields
NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt is known for his energy and enthusiasm. It is his unique ability to captivate an audience in a way only he knows how. His latest segment was in defense of Fields and his situation in Chicago, and it certainly did not disappoint.

“Justin, it doesn’t matter what I want to happen with you, what any of us want, what anybody watching wants, right now, it doesn’t even matter what the Bears want,” Brandt started.
“It matters what you want. I think you want to be a Chicago Bear for life. So do it. Get it,” he continued. “I’m sick of reading about your landing spots … to hell with that, you are an F’n Chicago Bear, homegrown. There is no landing spot because you’re not leaving. Not if you win Sunday against that team and that town.
“I think it’s the biggest game of your life. I think it’s a bigger game for the Bears than it is for the Packers. Great moments are born from great opportunities. You can end two evils in one game — the Green Bay Packers’ season, and the Justin Fields debate … Justin this isn’t your last game as a Bears player; it’s your first game as a Bears legend.”
After this heartfelt motivational speech from Brandt, who wouldn’t want to go out there and run through a wall? Hopefully, for Fields’ sake, that’s his sentiment as well.
Former NFL QBs Support Fields
NFL analysts aren’t the only ones who believe in Fields — former NFL QBs do so as well. The latest to come to the support of Fields is none other than former No. 1 overall pick Alex Smith.

“I think there is an argument to be made that this guy’s ceiling is unbelievable,” Smith says of the Bears QB. “This guy’s different; he has different kind of strength and ability…
“You’re telling me if you go put Justin Fields in a great situation with great players around him, and this guy’s not going to flourish in a great system, part of me thinks you should.”

Fields’ time in Chicago has been tainted by a franchise that has been trying to find its footing and has gone through changes both organizationally and personnel-wise. Smith feels the idea of putting Fields in a situation where he can just be himself and within a stable and established team significantly ups the quarterback’s chances of success.
There is merit in his thinking, but only time will tell how this all plays out for Fields and the Bears as they head into the offseason.
