Parker Washington Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Jaguars WR This Week?

Should fantasy football managers look at adding Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington after his performance in Week 13?

The fantasy football playoffs are getting close, and now is the time to get your final players added to help go win that championship. Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost wide receiver Christian Kirk early in the game, and the team had to go a little lower on the depth chart for production.

The next-man-up mentality for the Jaguars put Parker Washington on the field, and he responded with six catches for 61 yards. With that performance, should fantasy football managers add Washington off the waiver wire?

Should Parker Washington Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 14?

The Jaguars are currently one of the best teams in the NFL, and they appear to have escaped a disaster at the quarterback position on Monday. Trevor Lawrence suffered an ankle injury in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but he appears to have avoided a major injury.

While it is still unknown whether or not he is going to play this week, the fact that he is returning to full health in a matter of weeks — not months — is a win for the Jaguars. With Washington performing so well in Week 13, should fantasy managers pick him up off of waivers?

I get that it would be tempting to add him coming off that great performance, but right now, it is still way too early to look at Washington. First off, the status of Lawrence should be the very first thing you look at when examining Jacksonville.

If Lawrence isn’t able to go, then it doesn’t make sense at all to add Washington. Quarterback C.J. Beathard is a solid backup quarterback if you need him in a pinch, but to ask him to be able to help Washington have a big game is quite tall.

Without Lawrence, the Jaguars are going to rely heavily on the ground game led by Travis Etienne Jr. Etienne is one of the better running backs in the league and is a guy who can contribute to both the ground game as well as the passing game.

Another reason to stay away from Washington is because of the Jaguars’ matchup in the next two weeks. On Sunday, they play the Cleveland Browns, who have one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Browns are great at stopping both facets of offenses, and the game figures to be a low-scoring affair.

Next week, it doesn’t get any easier — they go up against the Baltimore Ravens. These two matchups are going to play a huge role in the fantasy playoffs, making it too difficult to count on Washington.

It was an awesome week for Washington. Those six catches were the first in his career. While I think he can help the Jaguars in the next couple of weeks, it isn’t going to be enough to help fantasy managers win in the playoffs. Stick with the receivers on your roster.
