Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions came away with a 52-14 win against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 and improved to 6-1 on the season. Somehow, Goff threw for only 85 yards in the game, yet the Lions scored 52 points.
Detroit currently has the best record in the NFC, but are they the best team in the entire NFL? Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones seems to believe so, having recently picked the Lions over the Kansas City Chiefs as the scariest team in the league.

James Jones Makes Case for Jared Goff’s Lions Over Chiefs
In a conversation on Fox Sports’ “The Facility,” Jones argued for the Lions and mentioned that Goff’s team should be feared.
“The most scariest team, most feared team in the NFL as we speak today, it’s not even close, and it’s the Detroit Lions,” said Jones. “Two-headed monster at running back, running the air out of the football, they could throw the ball with the best of them, they got the number one offense in football right now. They’re playing really good defense and really good special teams. Coached really, really well. They know exactly who they are.
“I don’t know who wins right now if they [Chiefs and Lions] played each other; I really don’t know who wins… The Detroit Lions are built the right way. The Detroit Lions are bullies, and they should be feared. They play football the right way, and the quarterback is playing at a really high level as well.”

The Lions are currently on a five-game winning streak and have averaged 43 points per game in their last four games.
Goff is playing the best football of his career and is an MVP candidate this year. In seven games, he’s thrown for 1,695 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions, completing 74.1% of his throws with a passer rating of 115.3.
Detroit’s explosive running game massively helps Goff and the passing game. The duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery is special, and the team is averaging 156.7 rushing yards per game this season.
The Chiefs are undefeated this year, but if you solely based on how the teams have played this season, Detroit does have a valid case of being the best team.
Lions Will Face a Tricky Test Against the Packers in Week 9
The Lions came away with a 31-29 win against the Minnesota Vikings in their first game against a division opponent this season. Now, they will face the Green Bay Packers this upcoming Sunday, which will be a tricky test.
The Packers are 5-2 on the season and are tied for the NFC’s second-best record. Jordan Love suffered a groin injury, though, in Week 8 and is currently questionable for the game. Nevertheless, the Packers have proven that they can win games with backup QB Malik Willis.
Like Detroit, Green Bay has an explosive offense and a solid defense. Both defenses have recorded 10 interceptions in seven games this season, and it will be fascinating to see which team comes out on top in Week 9.
This Lions-Packers game could be a preview of this season’s NFC Championship Game, as these teams have looked like the two best teams in the conference this season. Hopefully, we’ll be entertained by a good game.
