‘You Are Our Last Hope’ – Alabama Fans Hyped Up for Jalen Hurts’ Super Bowl Matchup Against Patrick Mahomes

On Feb. 9 in New Orleans, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will have a second chance to win his first Super Bowl.

The Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs once again after a crushing 38-35 defeat in Super Bowl LVII. While Patrick Mahomes and Co. will be looking for a three-peat and entrench themselves in NFL history, Hurts is seeking revenge for their heartbreaking loss two years ago. Ahead of the matchup, Alabama fans are excited to see their former quarterback climb the mountain at the NFL level.

Alabama Fans Want Jalen Hurts To Win Super Bowl LIX Against Patrick Mahomes

The 2024 season has gone swimmingly for Hurts, who led the Eagles to a 14-3 record and postseason wins against the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

After Sunday’s dominant NFC championship win (55-23) over the Jayden Daniels-led Washington Commanders, Hurts punched a Super Bowl ticket in hopes of winning his maiden Lombardi Trophy.

Praise poured in from all over the country, especially from his fans at Alabama, who watched him win a national championship in 2017 before transferring to Oklahoma to play in his final collegiate season two years later.

“You are our last hope,” said one angered by Mahomes’ perpetual success.

“Now go finish Jalen,” another wrote.

“Aura,” was all one enamored fan had to say.

Others were more focused on his ability to consistently win games. Hurts has never missed the playoffs as a starter, and obviously is no stranger to postseason success. Some consider him a future champion, while critics feel he is being carried by an elite roster.

“Bro is MJ reincarnated,” one fan wrote.

    “You got this,” another encouraged.

Hurts Claims That He Doesn’t Care About Production

As a fifth-year starter for the franchise, Hurts has been breaking records with his dual-threat abilities. This regular season, he racked up 2,903 yards and scored 18 touchdowns while conceding only five interceptions. With a QBR of 65.6, Hurts retained his spot as one of the NFL’s better passers, even if his raw numbers weren’t overly impressive.

“I don’t play the game for stats,” Hurts said via NBC Sports. “I don’t play the game for numbers (or) any statistical approval from anyone else. And I understand that everyone has a preconceived notion of how they want it to look or how they expect it to look.

“Winning, success, is defined by that particular individual, and it’s all relative to the person. And what I define it as is winning. So the No. 1 goal is always to come out here and win,” he added.

Hurts finished the regular season as the league’s fourth-best quarterback by PFN’s QB+ metric, suggesting that some of the doubts are overstated.

Apart from his rushing abilities, his passing prowess was on full display during the NFC Championship Game, where he completed 20 of his 28 passes for 246 yards and no interceptions. He is expected to pose a serious threat to Mahomes and the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX aspirations.
