Ezekiel Elliott Steals the Spotlight for Cowboys

It has been quite tough for America’s Team this season. Heading into Sunday Night Football against Tampa Bay, Dallas was sitting with a 6-8 record and was eliminated from postseason contention during the early slate of games.

McCarthy, as usual, became the talk of the town as one of the top coaches on the hot seat. But the odds now are in favor of Dallas keeping McCarthy around after securing Sunday night’s win.

Elliott, who is back in Dallas after one season with the New England Patriots, once again proved his mettle. In the second quarter, he powered the offense to convert a one-yard touchdown.

Sadly, it was the only touch Elliott had in the entire game, but he made sure to catch the attention of fans as one of the former elites to power the Cowboys’ run game.

Ohio State’s official X handle was quick to jump in support of its alum.

“Feed tha man, good things happen,” the Buckeyes captioned the clip.

It was certainly a reference to Elliott’s contract standoff from last season and his current one-year deal with the Cowboys. In April 2024, he signed a $2 million deal to make his return to Dallas.

Elliott has played limited snaps so far this season, and this was his first touchdown on Dallas’ home field since 2022.

Elliott’s Great Career at Ohio State

The former first-round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft had a great college career with Ohio State. Elliott played for three seasons with the program and recorded 3,961 rushing yards while scoring 43 touchdowns on 592 carries.

The former Buckeye was pivotal in leading Ohio State to a national championship in 2014 — in the same year he took over as the starter post Carlos Hyde’s departure. Elliott’s standout career made him a hot NFL prospect, and the Cowboys went all in by taking him No. 4 overall in 2016.
