Ohio State is consistently one of the top college programs at sending players to the NFL. With seven prospects ranked in the top 90 on Pro Football Network Chief Draft Analyst Tony Pauline’s big board, this year doesn’t look as if it will be any different. The 2021 Ohio St. Pro Day will provide scouts, coaches, and general managers with the opportunity to run the rule over the latest Buckeyes NFL Draft class.
When is Ohio State’s Pro Day in 2021?
The pro day for the Ohio State Buckeyes will take place on March 30.
Top Ohio St. prospects working out at pro day
Justin Fields
Quarterback Justin Fields is widely expected to be a top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Indeed, he will compete to be the second QB drafted, with Trevor Lawrence assumed to be going No. 1 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fields is currently ranked 8th on Pauline’s big board.
[sv slug=”drizly”]Pauline’s scouting report notes, “From the point of view of physical skills, Fields grades as highly as any quarterback in this draft and has the strongest arm of any of the top quarterbacks. He also struggles with his reads and is slow to process what’s happening on the field, which is a red flag. Fields absolutely has starting potential at the next level and could lead a franchise, but he will need the right coach who is able to match the mental skills with his physical ability.”
Wyatt Davis
Guard Wyatt Davis is one of the top interior offensive linemen in the class. Additionally, he is currently ranked 24th on Pauline’s big board.
Pauline: “Davis was a dominant lineman for Ohio State the past two seasons and showed continued development in his game. He’s a zone-blocking lineman with outstanding size and needs only to improve his finishing strength to complete his game. The injury suffered during the national title game will push him down draft boards, but once he returns to health, Davis will be a productive starting guard in the NFL.”
Pete Werner
Pete Werner is one of the 2021 Ohio State linebacker prospects looking to show that he can be a productive starter in the NFL. He’s currently ranked 44th on Pauline’s big board.
Pauline was impressed with what he saw. Pauline: “Werner is an underrated linebacker with a terrific combination of instincts and intensity as well as physical skills. He lays it on the line every snap but also plays disciplined football. Werner has scheme versatility and is a three-down linebacker who is effective covering the pass as well as defending the run.”
Josh Myers
Center Josh Myers is hoping to join teammate Wyatt Davis as another highly-drafted interior offensive line prospect for Ohio St. in 2021. He currently ranks 49th on Pauline’s big board.
“Myers was a terrific center for Ohio State and comes with growth potential. While he’s effective at the second level, I do not project him as a pure zone-blocking lineman. However, Myers could be a longtime starter in the NFL in the proper system.”
