NFL analyst Greg Cosell does not believe that the 2025 NFL Draft features a great group of quarterbacks. While appearing on the popular ‘Ross Tucker Football Podcast’ earlier this week, Cosell detailed how this sentiment seemed to be widely shared around the football community.
Despite the claims by Cosell, Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward and Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders are both expected to be taken within the top five picks of the upcoming April draft. As a result, despite various analysts outlining how previous and future drafts may have been or will be stronger, it is evident that teams in need of a QB are not going to wait around and bypass the two elite options at the top of the draft board.

What Did Greg Cosell Say About the 2025 QB Draft Class?
Cosell detailed how the general feeling around the draft is that the quarterback position does not feature a great depth of talent.
“I think that the feeling would be that it’s not necessarily a great class,” he stated.
Pro Football and Sports Network’s latest 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft completed by Ben Rolfe had both Ward and Sanders taken within the top two picks. In that mock draft, Ward was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans while Sanders was chosen No. 2 overall by the Cleveland Browns.
Regarding Ward, “The Tennessee Titans need an answer at quarterback, and Cam Ward is how the winds seem to be blowing right now. Of course, there are plenty of evaluation steps still to be done, and there are some intriguing ways the team could go.
Ward is a fantastic playmaker at the position and would add dynamism to the offense. He is far from the finished product, which is a concern given that this Titans offense is not currently set up to be a place for developing a quarterback. However, getting to work with Brian Callahan should only bring the best out of him in the NFL.”
Meanwhile, Rolfe detailed how, regarding Sanders, Cleveland “is far from a bad situation for the Colorado quarterback. The Browns have a lot of pieces in place around Sanders and were really only held back by the quarterback play in 2024.
Sanders is a promising NFL prospect. He is a pocket passer with enough mobility to make him effective. There are concerns about his arm strength, but he mitigates those with his compact release and impressive accuracy. Those mechanics can hide concerns when pressured, which is a concern with the Browns’ offensive line ranking 20th last season.”
