Should You Start Nick Westbrook-Ikhine or Treylon Burks in Fantasy Football Week 9?

With DeAndre Hopkins questionable this week, should fantasy managers go with Nick Westbrook-Ikhine or Treylon Burks in fantasy football?

With Tennessee Titans rookie QB Will Levis receiving his first start in Week 8, we were all wondering who his guy would be. Our questions were answered when we saw DeAndre Hopkins go for three TDs. Hopkins did not practice on Wednesday with a toe issue and is officially listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This leads fantasy football managers to consider which WR would be up next.

Should You Start Nick Westbrook-Ikhine or Treylon Burks in Fantasy Football Week 9?

In the Pro Football Network Start/Sit Optimizer, PFN’s Consensus Rankings say that Treylon Burks is the WR to start from the Titans’ core. He is projected to get 6.4 fantasy points based on 32.6 receiving yards with 2.5 receptions. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine is projected to earn 5.3 fantasy points on 1.6 receptions and 25.5 receiving yards.

There is little difference between the two players’ projections, and I agree with the optimizer’s assessment of Burks being the WR to start.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine’s Fantasy Outlook This Week

The 26-year-old WR Westbrook-Ikhine has not been much more than an afterthought for the majority of 2023. He is currently the WR56 on the year and has only had one week in the top 20. He was WR18 in Week 4, a week that Burks missed.

In PFN’s Consensus Rankings, Westbrook-Ikhine is WR74; in an offense that loves to run, even with a new QB with a strong arm, I don’t anticipate him making a significant contribution fantasy-wise Monday night. He only averages 3.6 targets per game.

Treylon Burks’ Fantasy Outlook This Week

Burks has been nowhere near the level we anticipated with all of his pre-season hype, but if deciding between the two WRs, he is the one to go with. His target share will jump if Hopkins doesn’t play, and I believe Burks has more talent than Westbrook-Ikhine. Burks is WR65 this week in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
