Nick Sirianni’s Early NFL Stints With Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers

Like many professional head coaches, Sirianni’s career started in the college ranks before he entered the NFL. In 2009, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an offensive quality control coach and eventually became the wide receivers coach. His time in Kansas City laid the groundwork for his offensive philosophy, but when Andy Reid took over the Chiefs’ coaching job, Sirianni was not retained.

Sirianni then made his way to the San Diego Chargers in 2013, where he worked as a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach and helped develop players like Keenan Allen and Philip Rivers.

In 2018, he joined the Indianapolis Colts staff as their offensive coordinator, working under head coach Frank Reich. Sirianni played a significant role in designing an effective offense and continued building his reputation as a sought-after head coach.

Sirianni Makes Immediate Impact as Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach

In 2021, the Eagles hired Sirianni as their head coach, marking a new chapter for the franchise. While Sirianni’s introductory press conference drew mixed reactions, actions speak louder than words, and he silenced critics by leading the Eagles to the playoffs in his first season with a 9-8 record.

2022 was a breakout year for Sirianni and the Eagles. Philadelphia dominated the regular season, finishing with a 14-3 record and earning the top seed in the NFC. Sirianni’s team, a powerhouse in all three phases of the game, went on to Super Bowl 57, where they narrowly lost to Kansas City.

As of the 2024 season, Sirianni’s coaching record is an impressive 52-23, the winningest record among active head coaches with four seasons or less. His postseason success includes multiple playoff victories and a Super Bowl appearance in just his second season.

Up Next For Sirianni: Eagles Meet Washington Commanders in NFC Title Game

Sirianni’s next challenge is getting the Eagles past Jayden Daniels and the red-hot Washington Commanders. While the Eagles’ postseason position is no surprise, Washington’s is. A rookie quarterback in Jayden Daniels, a new head coach in Dan Quinn, and the new system that comes with those changes typically experience growing pains.

Philadelphia split the regular season series with Washington. The division rivals last met in Week 16, with the Commanders narrowly pulling off a 36-33 win. Daniels threw for 258 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, but Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts exited the game early in the second quarter with a concussion.

Expect another hard-hitting, high-scoring matchup on Sunday for a chance to advance to the Super Bowl.
