Should I Draft Nick Chubb? Browns RB’s Fantasy Outlook in 2023

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb has been as consistent as anyone in fantasy football. Does he carry enough upside to justify his current ADP?

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb has played every game in the majority of his NFL seasons and is coming off a career year on the ground (1,525 yards). His role in the passing game has always been a limiting factor, but there is some optimism with Kareem Hunt now out of town. Does Chubb deserve consideration in the first round of your fantasy football draft?

    Nick Chubb’s Fantasy Outlook

Not much has changed in Cleveland on the offensive side of things from last season. Deshaun Watson will start under center, and the hope is that he can rediscover his upside from his days in Houston.

The pass-catching nucleus will be led by Amari Cooper again, though Elijah Moore came over from New York this offseason and offers some added depth to a room that also includes Donovan Peoples-Jones.

As far as Chubb is concerned, the biggest difference is that Jerome Ford is now second in command at the running back position and not Hunt. Ford is an interesting player and would hold Flex value if Chubb were to go down, but he is less likely to siphon weekly usage than Hunt was.

Is Chubb a Good Fantasy Pick?

There is nothing wrong with Chubb around the turn of the first round. Strategically, pairing him with an alpha receiver is an elite way to start your draft and a 1-2 punch that can give you the highest weekly floor in your league.

If Chubb can absorb even half of the passing-game role left by Hunt, he’d be a strong bet to return a profit on his current ADP. The appeal of starting your roster this way is the low range of outcomes — you know exactly what you’re getting and can build your championship roster accordingly.
