LAS VEGAS — Perhaps no team coasted their way through the regular season more than the San Francisco 49ers. They won all but one of their 12 games by more than one score, and the lone exception was a seven-point victory against the Los Angeles Rams after they elected to kick a field goal as time expired.
The postseason for the 49ers, however, has been a far different story. Edge rusher Nick Bosa made the argument that it has given the team some much-needed adversity to make it to Las Vegas and win Super Bowl 58.
Nick Bosa on 49ers’ Comeback Playoff Wins – ‘It Was Something We Needed’
The 49ers won their first two playoff games against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions by just three points each.
In each of those two wins, they trailed big early, as they had to overcome a touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter against the Packers and had to mount a 17-point comeback in the NFC Championship.
Those two wins were a far cry from their regular-season dominance when they won 12 games by an average of more than 19 points.
While they did lose five games, they were only at full strength offensively for one of them — a 33-19 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
While some San Francisco fans might be concerned with its playoff struggles, Bosa — on Super Bowl 58’s Opening Night — gave reporters a positive spin on these comeback wins. He explained how it can help the team as they approach Sunday’s big game.
“I think those two comeback wins are something that we needed,” said Bosa.

“A lot of our wins this year were by a lot of points and didn’t really have to fight back as much. So, just winning in different ways is good for us.”

While the 49ers have looked vulnerable in the playoffs, they have dispelled the narrative that they can’t play from behind. So if you’re a San Francisco fan or bettor, don’t count out a comeback if the 49ers fall behind early in Super Bowl 58.
