New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to making headlines due to his play on the field or controversial remarks away from the field.
Rodgers made headlines in a different way on Tuesday, following a report from The New York Times. The 40-year-old star quarterback was reportedly approached by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about serving as his vice president on a third-party ticket.
NFL World Reacts to News of Aaron Rodgers Being VP Candidate
Following the shocking news, the NFL world was understandably stunned and reacted accordingly. As expected, social media was flooded with jokes in response to Rodgers’ potential role as vice president.
Mike Greenberg of ESPN offered his hilarious take on the news of Rodgers being a potential candidate for vice president, which would result in the creation of an epic documentary.
“So, if I am to understand this correctly, the Jets have devoted their entire franchise to the cause of making it work around Aaron Rodgers, and he just might be running for vice president. This is going to be the greatest 30 for 30 of all time.”

Josh Norris of Underdog Fantasy jokingly wonders if Rodgers would bring along two of his favorite teammates to help him in his potential new role as vice president.
“How long until Aaron Rodgers convinces RFK Jr. to appoint Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard to his Cabinet,” Norris said on X.
Another X user believes the video of Rodgers’ famous pre-game run out of the tunnel in his debut game for the Jets could be a potential campaign ad. Although, they do make a good point, as it would be hard for Rodgers’ political competition to top that video.
“Aaron Rodgers retiring from football to be the Vice President to RFK Jr. with this video as their campaign ad would be the most Jets thing to ever happen.”
Patrick Daugherty of NBC Sports famously offers injury updates for players around the NFL. It seems like Daugherty is already anticipating Rodgers’ potential absence due to his new role as vice president.
“Aaron Rodgers (election on Tuesday) is questionable for Week 9 against the Chargers.”

Another X user made the joke that “Aaron Rodgers retiring from football to be the running mate for RFK is the most Jets thing ever,” alluding to the misery the fan base has suffered with their never-ending pursuit of a franchise quarterback.
While it appeared Rodgers would lay low and avoid making any headlines this offseason, The New York Times and Kennedy apparently had other plans in mind.
