Earlier this year, Tom Brady embarked on his return to the world of football with a broadcasting job. The seven-time Super Bowl champion signed a massive $375 million deal with Fox for 10 years.
However, with half of the season behind us, the reviews are in. The NFL world hasn’t been kind to the former New England Patriots QB’s job in the booth.
The NFL World Calls Out Tom Brady for Lackluster Broadcasting Job
Brady has several records and even more jewelry to his name. Many thought that his acute understanding of football would translate well into broadcasting. However, per several experts, that has not been the case.
Legendary sportswriter Bill Simmons got on Brady’s case on his podcast. “I think he’s being poorly produced is where I’ve landed because I think whatever they’re telling him to do, it’s not working,” Simmons said. “I don’t feel like I’m watching the game with him. He comes in the beginning he’s got this, like, fake energy. None of it feels genuine to me.”

“This guy is like one of the greatest resources in football that we have, and they don’t tap into any of it,” he added. Jimmy Trania of Sports Illustrated concurred with Simmons in his column. “(Brady’s) getting overcoached and is getting information overload by who knows how many people,” he wrote.
NFL Clears the Air on Brady’s Infraction During the Week 9 Game
This season, Brady is juggling the dual roles of broadcaster and minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Due to his owner status, his former role is under a ton of scrutiny. Per the regulations on the 47-year-old, he can’t criticize officials during the game.
However, he supposedly broke the rules in Green Bay. Now, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy, in an interview with Sports Business Journal, has cleared him of any wrongdoing.
“The concern would be if Tom was egregiously critical of officiating or called into question the integrity of an official or the crew,” McCarthy said. “That did not occur in this instance,” McCarthy told Fischer. Thus, ending any possibility of Brady receiving any kind of punishment for these particular comments.
