Report Reveals Eagles Became Dysfunctional After ‘Big Dom’ Suspension
Per NFL analyst Derrick Gunn on Thursday, not having head of Eagles security Dom DiSandro around became more of a distraction for Sirianni and the Eagles.
Gunn revealed that with DiSandro’s suspension from the sidelines following his altercation with 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw, the Eagles became more distracted and lacked emotional control.
“Big Dom suspended-controls Sirianni emotions on sideline, in his absence Nick gets in numerous arguments with players/coaches during games,” Gunn posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
DiSandro became a trending topic across the NFL for a well-heated scuffle between him and Greenlaw. That physical confrontation between Big Dom and the NFC champion defender led to a suspension for DiSandro — a rare case of a non-NFL player or coach being reprimanded by the league office.
The 49ers went on to trounce the Eagles that evening by a 42-19 score. Now, many believe that Sirianni not being able to maintain sideline control is largely responsible for Philly’s sudden downfall from 10-1 to a first-round playoff exit.
Fans Rip Nick Sirianni for Needing ‘Babysitter’
Some NFL fans were perplexed by the fact that a head coach needs a “babysitter” for an NFL franchise.
“Nick Sirianni needing a babysitter on game day is the least surprising development of 2024,” one fan posted on X.
“So Nick Sirianni needs a babysitter lmao,” another fan posted.
One fan joked how a certain former Eagles head coach would never need a “babysitter” type.
“Nick Sirianni needing a babysitter is pretty funny. Andy Reid would never,” the fan said.
One more fan joked how they didn’t have the Eagles HC needing a babysitter “on their bingo card.”
Others, though, believe Sirianni spiraled out of control regardless of having his top security guy around.
Sirianni also made one move that was questioned by the media — replacing defensive coordinator Sean Desai with Matt Patricia late in the season.

The Eagles didn’t fare much better with Patricia as the DC — including sustaining the 32-9 romp at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, a game that also marked DiSandro’s return from his suspension.
