LeBron James has worn the Dallas Cowboys colors when not in the Los Angeles Lakers purple and gold, showing his fandom for his favorite NFL team.
But did James bail on the Cowboys?
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
NBA Champion LeBron James Has New Team
In a clip released ahead of the Thursday evening episode of “The Shop” on Amazon Prime, James shared which NFL team he’s a fan of now.
“I’m a Browns fan now,” James said. “It’s been disgusting my whole life. But, we have hope every year.”

This left many confused about whether James just jumped off the Cowboys’ wagon. And if so, he’s leaping off during a time the Cowboys were walloped 42-10 at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

Or, perhaps after all these years, the native son of Akron (Ohio) is showing allegiance to the NFL team he grew up near.
Fans React to James’ Stunning NFL Reveal
Any sound byte involving the four-time NBA champion will trend and spark a reaction. Sure enough, this one certainly caught the attention of Cowboys and NFL fans. Some even trolled him for doing his NFL version of changing teams — which is what he’s done multiple times in his career.
“Changing teams is what he does best,” one fan posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“So he left the cowboys cuz they haven’t won to go to the…Browns?” another fan asked.
Other fans used the new term “LeBandwagon” to describe the NBA veteran who has played for the Lakers, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers twice. One fan, however, doesn’t blame James for deciding to find a new NFL team to cheer for.
“After that beat down last week, a lot of folks jumped ship lol,” one fan posted on X.
However, there was one prediction stating that James won’t last on the Browns’ wagon — and James will eventually return.
“He’ll be a Cowboys fan again by the end of the season if they make the playoffs,” one fan said.
It’s not the first time James ruffled some feathers with the Cowboys’ fan base. In an Instagram Live video before the Cowboys-49ers game, he made this big prediction.
“With that being said, I know we have a lot of Cowboy Fans in America, but I’m not one of them! I’m going with the Niners,” James said on the live feed.

Sure enough, the 49ers demolished the Cowboys in front of a nationally televised audience at Levi’s Stadium. From the looks of things, that signaled the end of his fandom for the Cowboys.
