The postgame conversation after the Washington Commanders and New York Giants contest wasn’t so much about the 31-19 Giants win.
It was about … no hot water? Turns out both teams couldn’t come out fully squeaky clean after the game.
Details Emerge in Shower Controversy at FedExField
Turns out that after the game at FedExField, both teams didn’t have hot water available for their showers following their cool 60-degree contest.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter discovered that an equipment failure inside the facility led to the lack of heat after turning on the water.
“We had an equipment failure in the main water heater that provides hot water to the field-level locker rooms. We can’t resolve the matter without completely shutting off the water to the stadium, which is why it couldn’t be repaired in-game,” a Commanders official told Schefter.

That meant no one could shower after the 12-point Giants win. And social media became relentless with some notable reactions.
‘Perfect Ending for That Game’
Once word got out involving the shower issue, the gifs and memes flooded the internet.
“That just seems like a perfect ending for that game,” Fox Sports NFC East reporter Ralph Vacchiano said on X (formerly known as Twitter). And his post was accompanied by a shower-related gif.
There is reportedly no water in either the Commanders or Giants locker room at @FedEx Field. So no post-game showers.

For a struggling team like the Commanders, which includes growing uncertainty for Ron Rivera, one fan believed that this latest mishap couldn’t have come at a worse time in D.C.

One fan, though, believed that not only is Rivera not going to be around to help fix this facility issue, but the next head coach will channel the energy of a popular fictional sports character into tackling the showers.

“Whoever the new Commanders HC next year is going to walk through that door with the Ted Lasso energy getting those showers fixed,” the fan said.
Washington Commanders and New York Giants Came With Heated Moments
So there was a lack of heat in the D.C. water.
Turns out something else was heated: on-field tensions, the kind that led to players getting tossed.
On the Giants’ side, defensive back Cor’Dale Flott got involved in a scuffle. He engaged with Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel on the sidelines. Ultimately, a brawl surfaced in the first half.

In the aftermath, both Flott and Samuel were ejected from the contest.
With Flott out, his Giants went on to outscore the Commanders 17-7 in the fourth quarter to win their third game this season.
