Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is the newest wide receiver target for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The former Baltimore Raven and Arizona Cardinal is joining a Chiefs roster celebrating their second straight Super Bowl title despite lacking a top receiving threat on the outside. That should change with Brown, though. The former first-round pick out of Oklahoma has a 1,000-yard season to his credit and should pair nicely with TE Travis Kelce.
How did the Brown signing come together? Well, for that, a last-minute recruiting pitch by Kansas City’s head coach might’ve done it.
NFL World Reacts to Andy Reid’s Recruiting Pitch
It’s not like Kansas City needs to recruit a certain way to entice players to come to them. They’ve won three Super Bowls in the last five years, have a dynamic defense, and the best quarterback in football.
Having the best head coach in the game certainly doesn’t hurt, either.
Brown, after signing his deal with the Chiefs, showed the last recruiting pitch on Instagram made by KC head coach Andy Reid as another reason why the decision was a no-brainer to him.

Following that announcement, the NFL world reacted with plenty of hilarity on knowing that Reid isn’t just a great head coach, but an expert recruiter.

I saw people today telling Andy Reid he need to lock in while he was at the BYU game meanwhile when he was at the game he was texting Hollywood Brown.

Andy Reid can coach …and recruit. https://t.co/yM0tp7JXSS

This isn’t the first time that Reid has put forth a recruiting pitch for wide receivers. The former Eagles head coach used a similar pitch for JuJu Smith-Schuster back in 2021. Smith-Schuster wound up being part of the Chiefs’ championship team in 2022.
In Brown’s case, Kansas City fans won’t be enamored just by his acceptance of a head coach recruiting pitch, either.
Hollywood Brown Jams to Taylor Swift After Signing
Almost immediately following signing his new contract with the Chiefs, Brown went on his Twitch stream to listen to some Taylor Swift songs.

Swift and Kelce have been a couple now for a little under a year. The relationship brought a new group of fans into the NFL viewing world, with millions of fans getting behind the Chiefs’ TE and the team.

It appears Brown is more than happy to jump on the bandwagon now that he’s a teammate of Kelce’s and a piece to the puzzle to try and help Kansas City be the first team since the 1960s Green Bay Packers to win three championships in a row.
