NFL World Praises Taylor Swift for Her Generous Donation to the Family of Parade Victim Lisa Lopez-Galvan

Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a victim of the Chiefs parade shooting.

The mass shooting at the Kansas City Super Bowl parade and rally claimed the life of one person, local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan. A GoFundMe page was made for her family with the goal of raising $75,000.

Taylor Swift helped the family surpass that goal as she donated $100,000 to the cause.

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” Swift wrote with a pair of $50,000 donations to the GoFundMe.

The effort has raised more than $200,000 for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Her son, Marc Lopez-Galvan, was also injured in the mass shooting. He has been released from the hospital.

“She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life,” the GoFundMe description reads.

Lopez-Galvan, who used the “Lisa G” moniker while co-hosting “Taste of Tejano,” died on Wednesday after gunfire broke out at around 2 p.m. local time near Union Station, as thousands celebrated the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl win.

“It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of ‘Taste of Tejano’ lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family,” station KKFI 90.1 FM said in a statement on its Facebook page. “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”

In a statement, the Chiefs organization said it is “truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.”

Twenty-two others, half of whom were under 16, were wounded in the shooting. Investigators are still trying to identify who is responsible but say a dispute may have led to the shooting. Police have two juveniles in custody and are trying to determine whether others were involved.

Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and attended Sunday’s Super Bowl, was not at Wednesday’s parade. She’s currently performing a series of shows in Melbourne, Australia, as part of her Eras Tour.

The Chiefs said all players, coaches, staff, and their families were safe and accounted for after the shooting.

Following the shooting, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, spoke out about the incident on social media.

“I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today,” he wrote in a post shared on X on Wednesday. “My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

On social media, NFL fans praised Swift for her generosity.

“Huge W Can’t hate on this. She didn’t have to do anything. Well done Taylor,” one user wrote.

“Better not see people hating on this one,” another said.

At a press conference on Thursday, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said the shooting was not terrorism-related and is believed to have stemmed from a dispute.

“There was no nexus to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism,” Graves said. “This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.”
