    NFL World Mourns Those Affected by Shooting at Chiefs Parade

    There was a shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, and the NFL community showed their support on social media.

    The celebration around the Kansas City Chiefs championship ended with a tragedy. There was a shooting at Union Station, the location of the team’s rally in Kansas City. The incident happened at the end of the team’s rally.

    Kansas City Police confirmed that one person was dead and over 20 were injured in the shooting. Police detained three people at the scene. There is no indication that the parade was targeted for the shooting.

    The Chiefs said there were no members of the organization or their families injured in the shooting.

    Kansas City Chiefs React to Shooting

    The Chiefs released a statement: “We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.

    “We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department. At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff, and their families are safe and accounted for. ”

    The statement ended with: “We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”

    Several other members of the Chiefs posted on X.

    Other members of the team praised the first responders.

    Linebacker Drue Tranquill: “Please join me in prayer for all the victims in this heinous act. Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”

    NFL World Shows Support for Kansas City

    The NFL released this statement about the shooting:

    Players and teams from around the league posted support for the city and the victims.

    The Baltimore Ravens posted: “Our hearts are with Chiefs Kingdom following the tragic events and shocking violence that occurred during today’s parade in Kansas City. On a day meant for uniting people in joy and celebrating love, we send our full support to every citizen of the region and each member of the Chiefs organization who has been affected by this senseless tragedy.”

    Browns safety Juan Thornhill, who played four seasons with the Chiefs, posted:

    New Orleans Saints and former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu posted: “Praying for all those involved in KC at this moment! It is senseless and disgusting! Sending the most of Love to all the kids that were impacted today.”

    AFC West rivals showed their support for the city. The Denver Broncos posted, “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all of Chiefs Kingdom following today’s senseless act of violence,” and the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers showed their support as well.
