NFL Win Totals 2024: Chiefs, 49ers, and Ravens Among Early Top Contenders

    Published on

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is still a ways away, but early win totals are out for all 32 teams. Who are the early contenders?

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is still more than five months away, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead at how teams might fare. DraftKings came out with its 2024 NFL win totals for all 32 teams, sparking plenty of dialogue over which squads are too high or too low.

Let’s take a look at where they each stand at this point with plenty still up in the air.

    2024 NFL Win Totals

Kansas City Chiefs Win Total: 11.5

    • Home Opponents: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Saints, Buccaneers
    • Away Opponents: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Bills, Falcons, Panthers, 49ers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .502 (T-16th)

The Chiefs are tied with two other squads for the top win total, and for good reason, after winning their second straight Super Bowl. Kansas City has some key free agent departures to account for but brings back much of the core that has led it to back-to-back Super Bowls and made some additions that could be key in pursuit of the league’s first three-peat.

San Francisco 49ers Win Total: 11.5

    • Home Opponents: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Bears, Lions, Cowboys, Jets, Patriots, Chiefs
    • Away Opponents: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, Packers, Vikings, Buccaneers, Dolphins, Bills
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .505 (T-12th)

Coming off their narrow Super Bowl loss to Kansas City, the 49ers are also tied for the league’s highest win total and look poised to remain successful in 2024.

San Francisco has won 12+ games in each of the last two seasons on its way to three straight NFC Championship Game appearances and brings back much of its previous success.

    Baltimore Ravens Win Total: 11.5

    • Home Opponents: Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Broncos, Raiders, Bills, Eagles, Commanders
    • Away Opponents: Bengals, Browns, Steelers, Texans, Chiefs, Chargers, Texans, Cowboys, Giants, Panthers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .536 (2nd)

The Ravens are the third squad tied for the highest win total, as they look to build on last year’s AFC Championship Game appearance. A tough schedule — second-toughest by opponent win percentage, to be specific — could be difficult for Baltimore to overcome in its pursuit of another conference title, however.

    Detroit Lions Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Buccaneers, Rams, Seahawks, Jaguars, Titans, Bills
    • Away Opponents: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys, Cardinals, 49ers, Texans, Colts
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .509 (11th)

After posting their strongest season in some time last year, the Lions head into the 2024 season with high expectations. Detroit is listed among a sizable group of teams at the 10.5-win threshold after posting just its third season with 10+ wins since the turn of the century in 2023.

Green Bay Packers Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Bears, Lions, Vikings, Cardinals, 49ers, Saints, Colts, Texans, Dolphins
    • Away Opponents: Bears, Lions, Vikings, Eagles, Rams, Seahawks, Jaguars, Titans
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .526 (T-4th)

The Packers were one of the 2023 season’s surprise teams. They actually improved on their 2022 record by one game despite losing Aaron Rodgers and won a playoff game to boot.

Jordan Love and company will look to improve on that once again in 2024 despite taking on the league’s fourth-toughest schedule.

    Buffalo Bills Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans, Chiefs, Cardinals, 49ers
    • Away Opponents: Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Ravens, Rams, Seahawks, Lions
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .516 (T-6th)

Buffalo turned things around from a bumpy start to earn its fifth straight playoff berth and sixth postseason trip in the last seven years in 2023. The Bills face the NFL’s sixth-toughest schedule in 2024 but will look to post their fifth consecutive season with 11+ wins and sixth in a row with at least 10 victories.

    Philadelphia Eagles Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Giants, Cowboys, Commanders, Panthers, Falcons, Packers, Steelers, Browns, Jaguars
    • Away Opponents: Giants, Cowboys, Commanders, Rams, Saints, Buccaneers, Bengals, Ravens
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .491 (T-21st)

The Eagles tailed off hard from a 10-1 start in 2023 to finish 11-6 before dropping their playoff bout with the Buccaneers. Philadelphia splurged in free agency to sign Saquon Barkley and some other key additions, but time will tell which version of the franchise emerges in 2024 against a relatively soft schedule.

    Atlanta Falcons Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Bears, Lions, Packers, Cardinals, 49ers, Falcons, Texans, Colts, Jets
    • Away Opponents: Bears, Lions, Packers, Rams, Seahawks, Giants, Jaguars, Titans
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .453 (31st)

Atlanta is coming off a disappointing 2023 season, going 7-10 for a third straight year. However, they brought in a new coach in Raheem Morris and QB Kirk Cousins in an attempt to turn the tide.

Could the combination of those key additions, Atlanta’s strong returning core of playmakers, and its weak schedule be enough to earn the Falcons their first 10-win season and playoff berth since 2017?

    Miami Dolphins Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Bills, Jets, Patriots, Jaguars, Titans, Raiders, Cardinals, 49ers
    • Away Opponents: Bills, Jets, Patriots, Texans, Colts, Browns, Rams, Seahawks, Packers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .488 (T-24th)

The Dolphins posted their first 11-win season since 2008 and second straight playoff berth in 2023, but questions remain as to what their ceiling could ultimately be.

MORE: Will Miami Dolphins Have Both Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips for Week 1?

A relatively soft schedule should help Miami’s chances, but the always-important divisional matchups with the Bills will be a decisive factor in just how many wins both teams end up with.

    Cincinnati Bengals Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Broncos, Raiders, Patriots, Eagles, Commanders
    • Away Opponents: Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Chiefs, Chargers, Titans, Giants, Cowboys, Panthers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .502 (T-16th)

Cincinnati had a disappointing 2023 season, to be sure, finishing short of the franchise’s third straight playoff berth after reaching at least the AFC Championship Game in back-to-back seasons. Having star QB Joe Burrow healthy for a full season should certainly help the Bengals’ pursuit of returning to form in 2024.

    Dallas Cowboys Win Total: 10.5

    • Home Opponents: Giants, Eagles, Commanders, Saints, Buccaneers, Lions, Ravens, Bengals, Texans
    • Away Opponents: Giants, Eagles, Commanders, Falcons, Panthers, 49ers, Browns, Steelers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .505 (T-12th)

Another playoff collapse has plenty of questions around the Cowboys despite their strong regular season in 2023, and several tough departures in free agency have only raised doubts.

There’s still time for Dallas to make some impact additions in free agency and the draft, but tallying its fourth straight 12-win season against an above-average schedule could be a challenge.

New York Jets Win Total: 9.5

    • Home Opponents: Patriots, Bills, Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Broncos, Rams, Seahawks
    • Away Opponents: Patriots, Bills, Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans, Steelers, Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .505 (T-12th)

The Jets’ season was grounded prior to takeoff when Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending injury on the third play of their opening drive, and they struggled from there. New York hopes to do better than its back-to-back 7-10 seasons in 2024 and needs to win sooner rather than later with Rodgers not getting any younger.

    Houston Texans Win Total: 9.5

    • Home Opponents: Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Bills, Dolphins, Ravens, Bears, Lions
    • Away Opponents: Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Patriots, Chiefs, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .526 (T-4th)

The Texans were perhaps the most surprising success of 2023, with rookie QB C.J. Stroud and first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans leading the team to a resurgent 10-7 season and playoff berth.

Houston hopes to avoid a collective sophomore slump in 2024 but faces a daunting schedule that could make even repeating its 2023 showing a success.

    Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Bengals, Ravens, Browns, Chiefs, Chargers, Jets, Giants, Cowboys
    • Away Opponents: Bengals, Ravens, Browns, Broncos, Raiders, Colts, Eagles, Commanders, Falcons
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .502 (T-16th)

The Steelers were very much a middle-of-the-pack team in 2023 and may have even overachieved by finishing with a 10-7 record but a negative point differential. Pittsburgh will look to build on that season anyway and hopes the additions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields can shore up its shaky quarterback play.

    Jacksonville Jaguars Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Texans, Colts, Titans, Patriots, Jets, Packers, Vikings, Browns
    • Away Opponents: Texans, Colts, Titans, Dolphins, Raiders, Bills, Eagles, Bears, Lions
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .512 (T-8th)

Jacksonville had a disappointing 2023 season and narrowly missed out on the playoffs in a competitive AFC South with a bit of a down year from QB Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars aim for a resurgence of sorts in 2024 despite losing WR Calvin Ridley in free agency and facing one of the league’s tougher schedules.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Eagles, 49ers, Commanders, Ravens, Broncos, Raiders
    • Away Opponents: Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Cowboys, Giants, Lions, Chiefs, Chargers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .478 (T-27th)

Tampa Bay found a way to finish the 2023 season strong and make the playoffs, thanks significantly to a strong season by QB Baker Mayfield. With Mayfield sticking around for 2024, the Buccaneers will look to build on their successes and attempt to win an NFC South division that was one of the league’s weaker divisions a year ago.

Los Angeles Rams Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks, Packers, Vikings, Eagles, Bills, Dolphins, Raiders
    • Away Opponents: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks, Lions, Bears, Saints, Patriots, Jets
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .505 (T-12th)

The Rams found a way to earn their fifth playoff berth in the last seven years in 2023, rebounding from a rough 2022 season that saw them go 5-12. QB Matthew Stafford is not getting any younger, but he showed an ability to remain at a high level last year and will look to continue leading the way for Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Chargers Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Ravens, Bengals, Saints, Buccaneers, Titans
    • Away Opponents: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Browns, Steelers, Patriots, Falcons, Panthers, Cardinals
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .478 (T-27th)

Change is afoot in Los Angeles as Jim Harbaugh was hired as the team’s new head coach, with several long-time contributors either being traded or cut for salary cap purposes.

It’s hard to tell just how competitive the Chargers might be in 2024 before they retool through free agency and the draft, but a soft schedule should certainly be helpful.

    Cleveland Browns Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Chiefs, Chargers, Dolphins, Cowboys, Giants
    • Away Opponents: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Raiders, Broncos, Jaguars, Eagles, Commanders, Saints
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .547 (1st)

The Browns worked their way to a resurgent season in 2023 despite plenty of turmoil at QB, earning just their third playoff berth since the turn of the century and second 11-win season in that span.

Replicating that success could be difficult in 2024 as Cleveland takes on the league’s toughest schedule.

    Indianapolis Colts Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Texans, Jaguars, Titans, Dolphins, Bills, Steelers, Lions, Bears
    • Away Opponents: Texans, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Patriots, Broncos, Giants, Packers, Vikings
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .491 (T-21st)

The health of QB Anthony Richardson is perhaps the biggest key for Indianapolis heading into 2023, despite the fact they came up just short of the playoffs with him playing just four games on the year.

A healthy and productive season from Richardson after showing flashes of potential could be key to the Colts breaking through for their first playoff trip since 2020.

    Chicago Bears Win Total: 8.5

    • Home Opponents: Lions, Packers, Vikings, Panthers, Rams, Seahawks, Jaguars, Titans, Patriots
    • Away Opponents: Lions, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, 49ers, Commanders, Texans, Colts
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .467 (29th)

The Bears are another team tough to evaluate at this point, given they have yet to make an official draft decision. But trading away Justin Fields makes it look all but certain that they will select Caleb Williams No. 1 overall.

MORE: Bears’ Jaylon Johnson Sends a Strong Message to Caleb Williams

How well Chicago is able to build around him will be crucial in determining their prospects in 2024 against a relatively weak schedule.

New Orleans Saints Win Total: 7.5

    • Home Opponents: Falcons, Buccaneers, Panthers, Eagles, Commanders, Rams, Broncos, Raiders, Browns
    • Away Opponents: Falcons, Buccaneers, Panthers, Cowboys, Giants, Packers, Chiefs, Chargers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .453 (31st)

The Saints have been in the middle ground between contenders and struggling squads for some time — a position they seem to strive for rather than bottoming out. New Orleans has won at least seven games in every season from 2006-23 and could certainly finish within that range again in 2024 despite some roster turnover.

    Seattle Seahawks Win Total: 7.5

    • Home Opponents: Rams, Cardinals, 49ers, Packers, Vikings, Giants, Dolphins, Bills, Broncos
    • Away Opponents: Rams, Cardinals, 49ers, Bears, Lions, Falcons, Patriots, Jets
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .488 (T-24th)

Seattle has gone through three straight subpar seasons on the heels of the height of its run under Pete Carroll but now has a new head man for 2024 after a second straight 9-8 season last year. The Seahawks have some intriguing pieces to work with and a helpful schedule, but time will tell just how competitive they can be in Year 1 under Mike Macdonald.

    Minnesota Vikings Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: Bears, Lions, Packers, Cardinals, 49ers, Falcons, Texans, Colts, Jets
    • Away Opponents: Bears, Lions, Packers, Rams, Seahawks, Giants, Jaguars, Titans
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .502 (T-16th)

The Vikings are trending toward bottoming out after a rough 2023 season that saw Kirk Cousins miss much of the year due to injury and now depart in free agency. Some draft capital is available to begin the rebuild, but it seems unlikely that Minnesota will be among the league’s playoff contenders in 2024.

    Arizona Cardinals Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Bears, Lions, Commanders, Patriots, Jets, Chargers
    • Away Opponents: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Panthers, Bills, Dolphins, Vikings, Packers
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .488 (T-24th)

Coming off their second straight 4-13 season, the Cardinals will look to rebound in 2024 with the hope of having a healthy Kyler Murray for a full season.

MORE: Shocking Kyler Murray Trade Proposed by Former NFL Exec

Arizona certainly has other positions of concern across the field as well, but doing a better job of keeping Murray out of harm’s way combined with the relatively soft schedule could be a good recipe for some success.

    Washington Commanders Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Falcons, Panthers, Bears, Browns, Steelers, Titans
    • Away Opponents: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, Saints, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Bengals, Ravens
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .502 (T-16th)

The Commanders remain in pursuit of their first winning season since 2016 after a rough 4-13 campaign in 2023 where not much went right for the franchise.

Washington will look to turn over a new leaf in 2024 despite some key departures, with an opportunity to make a key addition that could change its trajectory with the second overall pick in the upcoming draft.

    Tennessee Titans Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Patriots, Jets, Bengals, Packers, Vikings
    • Away Opponents: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Dolphins, Bills, Chargers, Bears, Lions, Commanders
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .491 (T-21st)

The Titans are coming off their second straight losing season but made some splashy additions in free agency by bringing in Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley.

Facing a below-average schedule could help matters as well, though there are certainly plenty of question marks surrounding Tennessee.

Las Vegas Raiders Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos, Browns, Steelers, Jaguars, Falcons, Panthers
    • Away Opponents: Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos, Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Saints, Buccaneers, Rams
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .512 (T-8th)

The Raiders showed some positive signs late last season after head coach Antonio Pierce took over as the interim, seemingly energizing a group that had its fair share of struggles before finishing 8-9. It could be tough sledding for Pierce and Co. in 2024, however, as they face the league’s eighth-toughest schedule with several tough road games on the docket.

New York Giants Win Total: 6.5

    • Home Opponents: Commanders, Cowboys, Eagles, Saints, Buccaneers, Vikings, Ravens, Bengals, Colts
    • Away Opponents: Commanders, Cowboys, Eagles, Panthers, Falcons, Seahawks, Steelers, Browns
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .516 (T-6th)

The Giants have a high selection to work with in the 2024 NFL Draft, but they look like a team with more holes to fill than assets to fill them with at this point.

Saquon Barkley’s offseason departure was a tough blow to an offense that’s already lacking playmakers, and a tough 2024 schedule will do New York no favors.

    Denver Broncos Win Total: 5.5

    • Home Opponents: Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Browns, Steelers, Colts, Falcons, Panthers
    • Away Opponents: Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Ravens, Bengals, Jets, Saints, Buccaneers, Seahawks
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .495 (20th)

The Broncos are the lone team to come in at 5.5 wins, just above the bottom tier but below everyone else. Denver is undergoing a significant facelift under Sean Payton after releasing quarterback Russell Wilson and has some draft capital to work with this year to begin revamping the roster to the head coach’s liking.

New England Patriots Win Total: 4.5

    • Home Opponents: Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Chargers, Rams, Seahawks
    • Away Opponents: Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Jaguars, Titans, Steelers, Cardinals, 49ers, Bears
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .512 (T-8th)

For the first time in more than two decades, the Patriots have a new man in charge, as Jerod Mayo takes over for long-time head coach Bill Belichick. New England hopes to reverse the downturn of recent years from its dynastic days sooner rather than later and can take a key first step in that direction with plenty of picks in this year’s draft.

    Carolina Panthers Win Total: 4.5

    • Home Opponents: Falcons, Saints, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Giants, Cardinals, Chiefs, Chargers, Bengals
    • Away Opponents: Falcons, Saints, Buccaneers, Eagles, Commanders, Bears, Broncos, Raiders
    • Winning Percentage of Opponents: .467 (29th)

Carolina was the league’s worst team in 2023, yet doesn’t have the typical No. 1 overall pick to show for it after dealing that selection to the Bears in the trade-up to select Bryce Young last season.

The Panthers did toss out plenty of money in free agency, though, particularly on the offensive line, looking to better protect Young and hope that results in a better 2024 season.
