The NFL is back with a vengeance in Week 6. For the first time all season, there is quite a bit of dissension among PFN’s five game selectors. With European football happening, there is football from the time the East Coast wakes up until the time everyone is ready to sleep for the night.
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
Pro Football Network’s Week 6 NFL Predictions
What do the game selector’s records look like so far in 2023, and how did each one fair in Week 5?
Year to Date
- Dalton Miller: 53-25
- Dallas Robinson: 52-26
- David Bearman: 49-29
- Adam Beasley: 47-31
- Jay Morrison: 42-36
Last Week
- Bearman: 9-5
- Morrison: 9-5
- Robinson: 9-5
- Beasley: 8-6
- Miller: 8-6
These predictions are simply deciding between winners and losers. There are no point spreads here. For that, head over to our Week 6 betting predictions.
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
- Beasley: Chiefs
- Bearman: Chiefs
- Miller: Chiefs
- Morrison: Chiefs
- Robinson: Chiefs
A week ago, the entire panel selected the Washington Commanders instead of the eventual winner, the Chicago Bears. Could the Broncos continue that trend?
Probably not.
MORE: 5 Crucial Stats for Broncos vs. Chiefs Predictions
The Broncos have a historically bad defense through five weeks. And although the Chiefs’ offense doesn’t feel very good at the moment, they are still fourth in offensive EPA through five games, with a compromised ankle on their mutant QB and Hall of Fame TE.
Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans
- Beasley: Ravens
- Bearman: Ravens
- Miller: Ravens
- Morrison: Ravens
- Robinson: Ravens
After the Ravens’ receivers decided not to show up against the Steelers, seeing a consensus from the selection panel feels like the dreaded “vote of confidence” for a coach in the hottest of seats.
However, there is no denying that the Ravens — as the youths would say — “clear” the Titans in pretty much every phase of the game. Baltimore’s defense is one of the top five units in the NFL under Mike Macdonald, and Lamar Jackson has been unbelievable.
Meanwhile, the Titans’ offense has been scattershot so far through five weeks.
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons
- Beasley: Falcons
- Bearman: Falcons
- Miller: Falcons
- Morrison: Commanders
- Robinson: Falcons
We finally have some disagreement, but it’s far from the last time that happens.
The Falcons have been the much better team through five weeks, but Desmond Ridder has not been infallible. Additionally, although the Commanders’ offense is unpredictable because of their young quarterback, they have explosive potential. In fact, Atlanta’s offense ranks 27th in EPA compared to Washington’s 22nd-place ranking.
The defenses are where things get lopsided. The Commanders’ defense has, once again, torn apart at the seams. Despite boasting a highly-paid defensive line and high-end draft capital in the defensive backfield, the unit is struggling. Meanwhile, the Falcons have leveled out around the top 10, and their schedule will likely keep them there.
The Commanders turned their defensive performance around in the back half of 2022. Can they figure out the same in 2023?
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
- Beasley: Bears
- Bearman: Bears
- Miller: Bears
- Morrison: Vikings
- Robinson: Vikings
The Bears have been one of the worst teams in the NFL for a long time now, but the Vikings have been bad in 2023, and they just put their best player — and arguably the best WR in the NFL — on injured reserve.
Minnesota’s defensive schematics could cause problems for Chicago’s offensive line and their young QB, but it could also lead to struggles, particularly against the run.
Brian Flores loves to crowd the line of scrimmage, which has its advantages. But it can also make run-blocking a bit easier and lead to some splash runs from the Bears’ run game, which found its groove last Thursday against Washington.
Without Justin Jefferson, rookie Jordan Addison and TE T.J. Hockenson must step up in a big way to keep the offense ahead of schedule. The Bears’ defense should be a nice tune-up for the Vikings’ offense without Jefferson, but it still might not be enough.
Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals
- Beasley: Seahawks
- Bearman: Seahawks
- Miller: Seahawks
- Morrison: Bengals
- Robinson: Bengals
One of the best games of the Week will be a 1 p.m. ET slate game, which is a nice change of pace in a league that pushes top matchups to prime time as often as possible.
The Seahawks have one of the most efficient offensive attacks in the NFL, and Geno Smith is playing at a high level himself, despite injuries to both offensive tackles. He’s maneuvering in the pocket well and delivering passes quickly to mitigate pressure.
MORE: Are Joe Burrow and the Bengals Contenders Again?
Joe Burrow seemed to get back on track a week ago, and he looks like he is healthier than he had been the weeks prior. Each team has seen defensive improvements in the first few weeks, and the Seahawks are getting healthier on that side of the ball, which could help mitigate some of their issues over the middle in pass defense.
San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns
- Beasley: 49ers
- Bearman: 49ers
- Miller: 49ers
- Morrison: 49ers
- Robinson: 49ers
Jim Schwartz is a psychopath, and he’s the exact kind of crazy to find success against Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers coach is 1-8 against Schwartz, and his offenses have scored 20 points only one time.
Could the Browns defense do enough to beat the undefeated 49ers? Probably not.
P.J. Walker will likely be Cleveland’s starter on Sunday against San Francisco. The 49ers’ defense is one of the best in the league, and Walker has not found very much success at the NFL level as a starter.
Maybe the Browns’ defense can slow down the 49ers, but it’s hard to see this Cleveland team being the one to ruin Brock Purdy’s perfect record.
New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans
- Beasley: Texans
- Bearman: Saints
- Miller: Saints
- Morrison: Texans
- Robinson: Texans
The Saints’ defense has been outstanding in 2023. They rank third in EPA and success rate, and they’re equally adept against the run and pass.
New Orleans remains incredibly well-coached on the back end, which could spell trouble for C.J. Stroud. However, Stroud has unequivocally played better than Derek Carr in 2023, and the QB advantage in this game could make the difference.
Carr’s shoulder is still not looking 100%, and the passing attack has been muted the past two games because of it.
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Beasley: Jaguars
- Bearman: Jaguars
- Miller: Jaguars
- Morrison: Jaguars
- Robinson: Jaguars
Although the panel unanimously decided the winner of this game, it shouldn’t have been a simple decision. The Jaguars have looked good the past two weeks, but they’re comfortable playing in London, and by the time they played the Bills, Buffalo was walking wounded and jet-lagged.
Jacksonville has traveled back to the States, and they face off against a well-coached Indianapolis team that is a much stiffer test than many would have imagined to start the season.
However, games are picked on potential, and the Jaguars’ potential is sky-high. If they minimize the mistakes they’ve been prone to make in 2023, they should prove the more talented team.
Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins
- Beasley: Dolphins
- Bearman: Dolphins
- Miller: Dolphins
- Morrison: Dolphins
- Robinson: Dolphins
Upon arising from a slumber the night before, it was found that Beasley had inadvertently selected the Panthers to win. He may be a hater, but he’s not insane!
That is how lopsided this particular matchup is. The Dolphins’ offense is simply too explosive, and the Panthers’ quarterback play too uninspiring to even imagine a close game, let alone an upset.
New England Patriots at Las Vegas Raiders
- Beasley: Raiders
- Bearman: Raiders
- Miller: Raiders
- Morrison: Patriots
- Robinson: Patriots
The Week 6 episode of “Stoppable Force Meets Moveable Object” airs at 4:05 p.m. ET when the Patriots’ offense meets the Raiders’ defense.
New England’s offense was always going to lack explosiveness, but it lacks substance entirely. Las Vegas turned over Jordan Love three times in Week 5, but their defense still ranks 27th in EPA and 25th in success rate.
But the Patriots’ defense is also compromised, not because of some LOFT issue (golf guys will understand), but because of injuries.
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
- Beasley: Rams
- Bearman: Rams
- Miller: Rams
- Morrison: Rams
- Robinson: Rams
The Arizona Cardinals have been leaking oil since surprising the Cowboys in Week 3. They were unable to stop, or even slow down, the offensive onslaught from San Francisco, and they were handled by the Bengals in Week 4.
The Rams certainly have their flaws, but the offense has been fun to watch, and they’re just getting started with a healthy Cooper Kupp paired with Puka Nacua.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets
- Beasley: Eagles
- Bearman: Eagles
- Miller: Eagles
- Morrison: Eagles
- Robinson: Eagles
The Eagles haven’t looked as dominant as a season ago, but they remain one of the most complete teams in the NFL. They have so much dominance strewn across the roster that even when two or three units are underperforming in a game, another unit can overcome those woes.
MORE: NFL Power Rankings Week 6
If Philadelphia can’t throw the ball or defend the run in a game, they can run it down a team’s throat, control the ball, and turn over the opposing offense once to win a close, ugly game.
It’s what they do.
Meanwhile, the Jets have been able to compete against the Bills and Chiefs in 2023 without any semblance of adequate QB play. Could their defense make life difficult for the Eagles to keep this game close and give them a chance to win it late?
Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Beasley: Lions
- Bearman: Buccaneers
- Miller: Lions
- Morrison: Buccaneers
- Robinson: Lions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have outrun everyone’s expectations thus far in 2023. The offensive line has been better than expected, and Baker Mayfield is dominating the league on third and fourth down.
However, life on money downs could be a bit more complicated against the Lions, where Aidan Hutchinson waits to attack Luke Goedeke, a second-round pick from his own draft class.
On paper, this could be the game of the week. The Lions are eighth in offensive EPA, and the Buccaneers are sixth in defensive EPA. Tampa Bay is currently 10th in offensive EPA, while Detroit ranks 10th on defense. These teams are tight.
New York Giants at Buffalo Bills
- Beasley: Bills
- Bearman: Bills
- Miller: Bills
- Morrison: Bills
- Robinson: Bills
Depsite losing what feels like their entire defense in London, the Bills remain an overwhelming favorite against the Giants, who have arguably been the worst team in the NFL through five weeks of play.
It certainly doesn’t help that New York’s offensive line is a train wreck, and they very well could be without Daniel Jones in this game. Either way, it likely doesn’t matter.
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers
- Beasley: Cowboys
- Bearman: Chargers
- Miller: Cowboys
- Morrison: Chargers
- Robinson: Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys offense has been exposed so far in 2023, aside from their incredibly strong performance against a great Jets defense.
The middle of the field has become a wasteland when it was once a strength. And losing Leighton Vander Esch could spell doom for the team defensively because it was already so thin at linebacker that Dallas often played three and even four safeties on the field at a time.
Meanwhile, the Chargers’ offense looks like one of the best units in the league with Kellen Moore calling the shots. They’ve accomplished this despite losing Mike Wiliams for the season.
But in the end, the Chargers are the Chargers. Will their “Chargering” result in a loss once again, or will they stress out their entire fanbase unnecessarily in a close fourth-quarter win?
