Nobody is happier with the result of the NFL betting trends from Week 6 than the 1972 Miami Dolphins, as they will continue to be the only team in NFL history to have a perfect season for the foreseeable future.
Going into yesterday, there were two remaining undefeated teams — San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams were road favorites of at least seven points yesterday, but they each lost outright, with the 49ers losing to the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets defeating the Eagles.
Anytime there is a big upset in the NFL, the sportsbooks win big. The betting public typically likes to back favorites not only on the spread but in teasers and moneyline parlays, where they don’t need to cover as many points or simply just need to win. So just how badly did the public lose on the 49ers and Eagles?

NFL Betting Trends and Recap Week 6: Sportsbooks Win Big on 49ers and Eagles Losses
Although they were both playing strong defenses on the road yesterday, San Francisco and Philadelphia were each expected to remain undefeated after Week 6.
They were both playing underwhelming quarterbacks in backup Browns QB PJ Walker and Jets QB Zach Wilson, so the public was thoroughly convinced that they were the two best bets this week to cover.
The two most bet teams by tickets and money at sportsbooks across america were the 49ers (-9.5) and Eagles (-6.5).
Both teams LOST.

But the biggest win for the sportsbooks yesterday was that both of these teams lost outright. If the 49ers and Eagles each failed to cover but managed to win, the teasers and moneyline parlays featuring at least either team would’ve still won.

Yet, the Browns and Jets destroyed those and helped deliver the sportsbooks their best Sunday of the season.
Text I just got from two different bookmakers:
“Best Sunday this season.”
49ers, Eagles’ outright losses were massive wins for books, knocking out parlay and teaser liability.

Although the sportsbooks had their best Sunday of the season, the New York Giants nearly pulled off the biggest upset of the season last night. If the Buffalo Bills had ended up losing, it would’ve been the icing on the cake of a huge day for Vegas and a nightmare Week 6 for the public.
The Giants were the biggest underdogs of the week, getting 15 points in Buffalo, and they came extremely close to pulling off the biggest upset of the season. On the final drive of the game, the Bills were flagged for defensive pass interference in the end zone, giving the Giants the ball at the 1-yard line down 14-9 with two seconds remaining.
New York, however, squandered the opportunity, as Tyrod Taylor failed to connect with Darren Waller in the back of the end zone on a play that could’ve drawn another flag.

The Giants might have lost last night, but they did get their first win against the spread this season. With their cover last night, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos are now the only two winless teams ATS remaining.
