NFL Weather Report and Forecast for Week 14: Worry-free weather
But the weather doesn’t matter! Oh, is that so? Next time you hear that, feel free to redirect their attention to Monday night last week and see if the opinion holds. Sure, that was on the extreme scale to the point Buffalo and New England were playing in a wind tunnel, drastically affecting the game — more so than anyone likely figured.
That’s why, for as inconsequential as it might seem, it’s worth looking at the upcoming NFL forecasts to see if there are any hot spots to pivot from potentially. I can at least say there will be nothing like what we saw last week. All in all, it will be a clear week weather-wise. With that said, the games on the field have more than enough questions to keep fantasy managers busy in Week 14.
Dallas Cowboys -4.5 at Washington Football Team, O/U 48 | Sunday 1 PM ET
Update 12/12/21: The Cowboys have announced that Tony Pollard will be inactive for Week 14.
Keep an eye on Tony Pollard’s status and when inactives are announced at 11:30 AM ET. Pollard tore the plantar fascia of his left foot in Week 13 and did not record a practice all week, making him a game-time decision. I would be surprised if he does suit up, leaving Ezekiel Elliott as a high-end RB2.
The next player I am watching is Terry McLaurin. He is no longer a must-start, but you need several high-level WRs to bench him. Despite accounting for 26.4% of the targets (11th for WRs) and 43.58% of the air yards (second), McLaurin has just one top-10 outing in the last five games, with the other four outside the top 30.
Over this time, which includes his bye, McLaurin is the WR32 in scoring while averaging 10.8 PPR. Despite how much he means to the team, McLaurin is still a starter, but as a lower WR2, not a locked-in WR1.
As for the Week 14 weather in Washington, expect 49 degrees, sunny skies, and 8 mph winds with 15 mph gusts.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans (-8), O/U 43.5 | Sunday 1 PM ET
Not only is James Robinson dealing with an injury (ankle/heel), but he has a more significant issue in Urban Meyer. The rumors are swirling about the first-year head coach’s status with the Jaguars and what actually happened last week when he benched Robinson.
Throw in a Titans defense that allows the fifth-fewest points to RBs (20.53) and total yards (113.67), and Robinson is a lower-end RB2 who could disappoint given the calamity surrounding this team.
Nashville’s Week 14 weather forecast should feature mostly sunny skies, 5 mph winds, and highs near 51 degrees.
Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs (-10), O/U 47.5 | Sunday 1 PM ET
We need to put some respect on Hunter Renfrow’s name. Not only does he look 17 in pads and 40 when he takes his helmet off, but the guy can ball. He’s seen 8+ targets in eight games, including five of his last six. In games where Renfrow has seen 6 or more targets (10), he’s produced double-digit fantasy points.
Since the Raiders’ bye in Week 9, Renfrow is the WR8 in PPR scoring, averaging 8.2 targets, 7 receptions (85.4% catch rate), 72.2 yards, and 16.8 points. No question he’s benefited from the absence of Darren Waller, but Renfrow is a reliable WR2 in Week 14.
As for the weather forecast in Kansas City, expect sunny skies, 11 mph winds with 22 mph gusts, and 54-degree temperatures at kickoff.
New Orleans Saints at New York Jets (-5.5), O/U 42.5 | 1 PM ET
For a game that doesn’t mean much, there’s a bunch to unpack and watch. On the Jets side, what do they do at WR? Corey Davis was placed on IR, but more importantly, so was Elijah Moore. Since Week 9, Moore has been the WR2 in fantasy (20.1 ppg) with 39.8% of the team’s air yards and 25.4% of the targets. Can Jamison Crowder do enough to make us pay attention to him in the coming weeks?
Then we have the Saints, and there are two stories: 1) Can Taysom Hill throw the ball with his injured hand? 2) What will his impact be on Alvin Kamara. We saw a massive drop in Kamara’s targets with Hill under center last season, and it could be an enormous blow to his fantasy upside.
However, I am confident in ranking Kamara inside my top three for Week 14 against a Jets defense allowing the 26th-most fantasy points over the last four games (28.43).
Expect 48-degree temperatures, 7 mph winds, and sunny skies in East Rutherford for Week 14.
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers (-3), O/U 41 | Sunday 1 PM ET
What on Earth will this Panthers offense look like after the dismissal of OC Joe Brady. At least they had a bye to figure things out, but either way, they won’t have Christian McCaffrey, who was placed on season-ending IR. Those who added Chuba Hubbard and hung onto him just received a massive boost heading into the fantasy playoffs.
In the five games with McCaffrey inactive, Hubbard averaged 18 rush attempts, 65.8 yards, 0.4 TDs, 2.6 receptions, 17.6 receiving yards, and 13.3 PPR points per game. Those are fringe RB2 numbers, and he comes in as the RB24 in Week 14 rankings.
As for the weather forecast this week, expect temperatures around 52 degrees, sunny skies, and 7 mph winds in Charlotte.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns (-3), O/U 42.5 | Sunday 1 PM ET
The Ravens have looked like a mess as of late. Their only consistent player has been Devonta Freeman, which I would never have seen coming. Since Week 9, Freeman is the RB11 while averaging 14.6 PPR points. He should be a reliable RB2 against a Browns defense conceding 24.8 fantasy points over their last four games. Furthermore, they gave up 97 yards, a TD, and 20.7 points to Freeman just two weeks ago.
Cleveland’s Week 14 weather forecast should feature sunny skies, 11 mph winds with 22 mph gusts, and highs near 45 degrees.
Detroit Lions at Denver Broncos (-11.5), O/U 42 | Sunday 4:05 PM
According to Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com, Melvin Gordon (hip/shoulder) is listed as questionable, but head coach Vic Fangio expects him to play. For fantasy, this is a disaster of a situation. After watching Javonte Williams stampede for 178 yards and a TD last week, we now have to wonder how much work Gordon will receive and whether or not this backfield will return to a near 50/50 split.
Personally, I believe Williams did enough last week. Additionally, the team may take it easy on Gordon in his return, allowing Williams to keep the No. 1 role. He has RB1 upside against the 29th-ranked run defense. Gordon falls in as a high-end RB3.
As for the Week 14 weather in Denver, expect 59 degrees, mostly sunny skies, and 8 mph winds with 15 mph gusts.
San Francisco 49ers (-2) and Cincinnati Bengals, O/U 49 | Sunday 4:25 PM ET
Let’s continue our pattern of questions. Is Joe Mixon going to play after missing all three practices due to an illness, and how well will he play if he does? What will the passing game look like with Joe Burrow battling an injured pinky finger on his throwing hand? Will Deebo Samuel play after missing last week? How will Jeff Wilson Jr. perform after a goose egg last week? Will he seize the No. 1 role with Elijah Mitchell (concussion) out for Week 14?
In order, Mixon should be fine and is a must-start RB1. Burrow is a higher-end streamer, and I see Tee Higgins outscoring Ja’Marr Chase, but both come in as WR2s. If Samuel plays, the risk of re-injury is a massive concern, but you still have to start him. As for Wilson, he is a low-end RB2 who concerns me a bit. Nevertheless, he can blow up. In his last four starts, Wilson has averaged 117.5 total yards on 21 touches per game with 6 total touchdowns.
Cincinnati’s Week 14 weather forecast should feature mostly sunny skies, 6 mph winds, and highs near 48 degrees.
Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.5), O/U 54 | Sunday 4:25 PM ET
With all the talk on the QBs and WRs, Leonard Fournette might have the biggest game of them all. Since Week 10, he’s averaged 20.6 touches and 97.3 total yards per game and is the RB2 in PPR scoring at 24.2 points. He is leading the NFL in receptions for running backs and has 28 catches in his last four games. Over the last four weeks, Buffalo is No. 31 vs. RBs, allowing 33.4 points per game. Fournette is a top-three RB this week.
As for the weather forecast in Tampa Bay, expect partly cloudy skies, 6 mph winds, and 83-degree temperatures at kickoff.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (-11.5), O/U 42.5 | Sunday 8:20 PM ET
Allen Robinson (hamstring) is back this week, and no one should be excited about it. All season, Robinson has been a non-factor and should come nowhere close to starting lineups.
Aaron Jones made a surprising return before the bye after spraining his MCL, and now we have to see how the backfield shakes out with him and AJ Dillon. They will feed off each other, but this is not a situation where we should get too cute. Start them both in fantasy lineups with Jones a high-end RB2 and Dillon a lower-end RB2.
Expect 37-degree temperatures, 13 mph winds, and clear skies in Green Bay for Week 14.
Week 14 indoor games
The teams below will play in optimal conditions, and there will be no effect on the passing and kicking game. This helps to eliminate at least one variable fantasy managers need to consider each week.
- Seattle Seahawks (-8.5) at Houston Texans
O/U 40.5 | Sunday 1 PM ET - New York Giants at Los Angeles Chargers (-9)
O/U 43 | Sunday 4:05 PM ET - Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals (-2.5)
O/U 51 | Monday 8:15 PM ET
